Episode 4 (Season 3) of The Walking Dead airs tonight on AMC and I don’t know if I should be more excited for that or Kourtney and Kim Take Miami.
We’re 3 episodes in and I’m not crazy about the remaining half of the season. We’re waiting for this huge fight between Rick and The Governor, in the meantime nothing cray cray is happening. Okay so Andrea came back, but we all knew that was going to happen, and it sucked even more she didn’t stay with them!
In comparison to season 2, this season seems to be lacking the risk factor. I know there’s a newborn baby now, but everyone seems so robotic and dead. The characters themselves have lost that spark that made them so unique in the beginning episodes. That might be the writers’ intention, because really who stays the same during a zombie apocalypse. Rick is legit crazy, he’s completely lost himself in this battle and you wonder if he’s going to survive this war with The Governor. They’ve focused a lot more on The Governor and Woodbury and less about our characters and their future at the prison. Are we okay with that?
Also, I found it weird that all the prisoners they found in the beginning of season 3 are now dead. What was the point of these characters if they were all just going to die randomly? There was a lot of drama because of the prisoners that proved to be very entertaining, but none of it benefits the group later on. Sure Oscar put his life at risk when they invaded Woodbury, but realistically everyone would’ve made it out alive even if Oscar wasn’t there. He was a huge target, who could miss that?
We know there’s going to be a huge battle between the gang and The Governor. I don’t think the group is going to lose anyone, I feel like this next battle is more about how they come out together as a family. It’s going to be their biggest test. It’s also going to be a test against whoever is going to lead the group. Last week Carl advised his dad to let someone else lead the group for once. We’ll see if that actually happens. Daryl for President!! Carol would make a great first lady.
What do you guys think? Is the remainder of Season 3 living up to your expectations?
