GAME OF THRONES: RECAP ‘THE BROKEN MAN’

A lot of Game of Thrones fans were disappointed with this week’s episode titled, ‘The Broken Man’ mostly because it did seem like a filler episode that basically spent the hour setting everything up for the remainder of the season. Having said that, there were still so many good moments throughout the hour – and one very special appearance from someone who we assumed was left for dead. Also Lady Olenna absolutely demolished Cersei with the greatest monologue of all time. OF ALL TIME!

No Spoilers here – but listen to our recap podcast and join the discussion!

GAME OF THRONES: RECAP ‘OATHBREAKER’

The morning after another Game of Thrones episode. This one was a little bit of a filler but was still really, really good.

Bran and his flashbacks for the win!

TOP 10: GoT Season 6 What We’re Excited For

So we’ve had a few Game of Thrones teasers drop in the past week, can you guys believe it’s almost that time again? Instead of breaking down what we see or don’t see in the promos, let’s just go over what we’re really excited about this season.

The writers left off with our main characters turning a corner in their individual arcs and pointing them in a direction that will probably send them to the finale of the series. Having said that, GOT fans claim every season will top the last, but this one, I think, will have the biggest changes. Or maybe it won’t, I’m not a writer on the show but I really wish I was.

10. Where have all the dire wolves gone?

jonsnow-direwolf

Not that I’m a crazy dog lover or anything, but seriously, where are all the damn dire wolves? I feel like a huge symbol of the Stark family rising back up will be the return of the animal(s), we know Arya’s wolf is still out there, maybe Sansa will run into it since she’s all up on the North side. Then it’ll be like a part of her sister is always with her, or not. Because really nothing good ever happens to the Starks.

9. Where did the zombies go?

whitewalkers-got

The last time we saw all the white walkers they were full out zombie status at Hardhome, and Jon Snow and his crew barely made it out. That gave the zombies enough time to head to Georgia and fake kill Glenn. Ha. We haven’t seen the last of them, not that I’m particularly excited to see them again, I just have this deep dark feeling they’re going to f*** sh** up.

8. More wine nights with Khaleesi and Tyrion

Khaleesi-Tyrion-Olivia

Seriously though, how amazing was that conversation between Khaleesi and Tyrion. Now that the two are ‘friends’ I’m hoping to see them have more deep conversations with Olivia Pope sized wine glasses. But first, let’s bring Khaleesi home!

7. Gendry, we know you’re still out there!

got-gendry

I feel like as quickly as I remember Gendry, I quickly forget about him. But let’s not forget, technically, he is King of the seven kingdoms right now. But beyond that, I’m hoping he’s going to play some type of role this season. Last time we saw him, Davos was pushing him away into the water in the middle of the night. Maybe he’s Arya’s true soulmate and they can run the kingdom together, but again, nothing ever good happens to the Starks. I got my eye on you Gendry, even if Arya doesn’t. (Because she can’t see anymore – see what I did there?)

6. Cersei, on a scale of 1 to 10 how mad are you?

got-cersei

But really Cersei, really, how mad are you? I cannot wait for this scene to go down when Jamie Lannister has to tell his baby mama aka his sister, that their daughter is dead. She died on the way home after being sent to a very pretty resort type of living arrangement in Dorne. That last scene with Jamie and his daughter, and how she really knew the story of her mother and him, it was beautiful. But bye Felicia, your momma has done too many horrible things for you to survive this. And another thing, you know that Amber Rose slut walk Cersei Lannister shame walk, did not even phase Cersei. But the news about her daughter is definitely going to break her. But on a scale of 1 to 10…how mad are you Cersei? (Side note: Amber Rose > Kanye)

5. Will Brienne finally accomplish one thing on her checklist? AkA Sansa.

brienneoftarth-got

We all love Brienne, yay, girl power, feminism, cool. But real talk this girl has done nothing since the show has started, I mean she’s done a lot, she’s literally been moving all around the Game of Thrones world map looking for someone, or trying to protect someone she’s looking for. She’s on a mission but she never really completes the mission. Or like she completes the mission but Jamie’s hand is missing so it doesn’t really count. Anyways, we love Brienne, and I’m wondering if her week-long spy session on Winterfell will actually amount to anything. Is she going to save Sansa? Like maybe she needed to fail 300 missions to finally complete 1 and that’s to save Sansa. Again, girl power.

4. Has Arya reached Uma Thurman Kill Bill Status?

94dd15576ca3b935f1a52b2351b033a2bae61b81cb46530022df3300b696870b

Arya’s storyline last season was amazing. She was so Uma Thurman in Kill Bill, but she was also a little rebel. As her punishment she loses her vision, and I’m wondering if that’s going to last forever or are they going to let her prove herself and then give her vision back? Maybe she’ll never get to see again, but maybe she won’t need to if her dire wolf has 20/20. Love the dogs, but don’t think her story is going that way. Either way, I’m super excited for her story. I really just want her to meet Khaleesi.

3. Khaleesi and the pickle.

khaleesi kidnapped, khaleesi and drogon, dragon names game of thrones, jon snow dead

This girl is in a pickle. She literally has her hand in the pickle jar, she’s totally f*****, I don’t know how she’s going to get herself out of the pickle jar. Her dragons wish they could eat a pickle, but there’s no food around and so they’re so weak, they can’t save their momma. Khaleesi is surrounded by the Dothraki, this is how we left her last season. I mean I’m not worried about her safety. I don’t think they would kill the mother of dragons (by they I mean the writers) But they might be okay with killing one of her dragons, aka proving the point that she might not be as invincible as she thinks. Is this a possibility? CAN this happen? Should we be worried? These are all very important questions.

2. How much progress has Bran made? / Is he a dragon yet?

stark-superman

This one might be a little surprising for some fans, but really I’m legitimately worried/curious about Bran. I feel like even though we haven’t seen him in a season he’s done a lot of work in the background or more literally, underground in that cave thingy. I’m hoping that he might, or maybe he already is able to warg himself into Khaleesi’s dragons. Because you know, one of her dragons was missing for quite some time, so maybe he was roaming around the North and Bran was able to find a signal. Who knows, but it might make sense right? Like I’m not crazy for thinking that? Is that too ambitious for us to assume Bran has done that much work while he was away in season 5? I wouldn’t put it past this kid, he’s been making very smart decisions that even adults wouldn’t be able to make. Let’s not forget how noble he was in season 4 when he made the decision not to call out Jon’s name. Moving on.

1. WTF happened to Jon Snow?

jon-snow-dead

Alright, here we are. We know that Jon snow isn’t dead. But what is he? Where is he? When will we see him again? These are all questions we want answered, sooner rather than later. Not to say that we need Jon Snow back immediately, to be honest I’m a little over the entire Night’s Watch set, so I don’t mind if we don’t go back there for a while. But I still want to know wtf happens to him. Obviously the red woman Melisandre is going to play a big part in his ‘revenant-ing’ himself, can we use that word? I think everyone is excited to see and hear his beautiful voice again. Also, everyone’s like ‘see they didn’t kill him!’ And honestly, Melisandre, girl, just send us an email, or a Tweet, we just want to know that you’re working on him, and we’ll be good.

Did we miss anything? Is there something else you’re excited to see in the upcoming season? What you guys think of having a few flashbacks with Lyanna and Rhaegar?? I want to know more about those two lovebirds.

Game of Thrones Season 6 Predictions!

Now that it’s been a few weeks since the Game of Thrones season 5 finale, we can start getting excited for season 6. Okay, it might be a year away but we’re allowed to speculate! Especially the way they left off with so many cliffhangers! Hi Jon you’re not dead okay 🙂 Let’s go through some of the predictions were hoping for, and some we just don’t know anything about. Jon Snow Okay so I consider Kit Harrington’s article with EW (released the second after the finale aired btw) a complete bs story. Technically, like he says in the article, Jon Snow is dead but I think and most people should think, that he’ll be brought back to life. This will probably be possible because of Melisandre. I would love to have this question answered. If the writers didn’t want us to connect Melisandre’s return to the nights watch (to a possible resurrection of Jon), why did they show that scene in the finale? Why not wait until season 6 and have us all biting our nails wondering if she’s going to make it back to the wall to save him? jon snow dead, jon snow, game of thrones finale, GOT, Here’s my theory on all of this: A. We’ve heard stories before of R’hllor the lord of light bringing people back from the dead and if you read into the entire religion or history of the  lord of light there’s an like ultimate god I can’t remember his name, and he resembles Jon Snow exactly. Not by looks but by their journeys and accomplishments. Wiki fans correct me if I’m wrong here. B. The concept of bringing someone back from the dead happened in season 3 when Beric Dondarrion along with members of the Brotherhood Without Banners concerted to the religion of the Lord of Light. Beric died six times, and each time Thoros of Myr has brought him back. So we know it’s possible in this world. C. If you look at this show from a bigger perspective it doesn’t make sense to kill Jon at this point. It’s absolutely ridiculous and pointless. I’ve said this before, I believe Khaleesi/Tyrion/Jon are the trifecta characters of this series. George R R Martin spent a little more time on them, maybe he sees more of himself in these 3 characters than he does others. I don’t know what it is, but I do know they are the ultimates. Some people went as far as predicting the final moments of the series. Watching the three dragons ride into the sunset with all 3 characters riding each one. The first thought I had was ‘but they’re not fire they’re not Targaryens!’ And then I’m like wait Jon Snow probably is, and what if Tyrion is? What if Tyrion’s father was never Tywin?! Woah, mind blown. This got really deep and I might be crazy but ya never know! HUGE SIDE NOTE: Where was Ghost while they were killing Jon?! Ugh. So yeah, there’s my theory on Jon Snow. cersei walk of shame, cersei lannister, game of thrones finale, jon snow dead Cersei Now that she’s atoned her sins, like a quarter of them, she’s back at the castle with her Frankenstein. I feel like Cersei won’t make it past season 6, hello ain’t nobody got time for her! The sparrows will definitely find out about her and Jamie, and I think Jamie’s going to be the one to say it. Especially since his daughter admitted to knowing all along and still loving him. He’s def changed forever. I’m hoping Frankenstein will smash her head in so hard it explodes like Oberyn’s but at this – minor detail. Khaleesi There’s a blank space in my brain for Khalessi right now. I have no idea what to think of how we ended off with her. I can hope, that she’s been kidnapped, but she somehow gets the Dothraki tribe to believe in her and join her cause. It’s obvious that she can’t always have her people protecting her, her dragons aren’t going to win over the world for her, she’s going to have to put some work in herself, and that’s completely understandable. I think this will be her time to shine and show she has the power of a queen. khaleesi, khaleesi rides dragon, khaleesi game of thrones, emilia clarke, jon snow dead Sisters Arya and Sansa, I really have no idea. Brothers Bring Bran back!! Or bring him back in the form of a dragon! Whatever it is I miss that kid. I really would like to see one of the siblings connect again, I don’t know if that’s in the cards or if it even makes sense to see them together but its season 6 and I want what I want. Jorah I really wanted to believe greyscale had the power of good somehow, like maybe you can’t burn in a fire or some sh*t. But obvi Shireen + fire = not good so that theory’s out the window. I can only assume Jorah will live the ‘yolo’ life while looking for his Queen since he’s on the clock. That’s about it. Brienne Besides being the most useless character of season 5 – relax, Stannis was basically already dead, she might play a big role next season. But I have no idea how that’s going to happen. gameofthrones,GoT,HBO,georgerrmartin, gendrybaratheon, khaleesi, jonsnowdead, jon snow And last but not least, because boy I did not forget about you – Gendry! He’s technically the King right now by being Robert Baratheon’s oldest son but he probably shouldn’t let anyone know that. I think he’s going to come back at some point. Maybe next seasons finale episode? I don’t know how they’ll insert him into the plot but I think he’ll be a crazy twist. Or maybe he’ll just be Arya’s soulmate. I think those are all the theories I have for now. We still have 12 months before next season so who knows what we can come up with. Let me know what you guys think! TOP 10 Game of Thrones Moments From Season 5!

Hiatus officially over! We are back in bidness with brand new blog posts, tv recaps, podcasts, more! But first, let’s discuss season 5 of Game of Thrones because really we need time to heal.

10. Stannis burns his daughter
Okay this wasn’t that much of a surprise because we all know when GoT builds characters with an emotional back story it’s only to tear and rip them to shreds. By the end of the season Stannis is in a pretty sh**ty position and decides his only option is to listen to the Red Woman and burn his daughter alive! Like you couldn’t of killed her first and then burned her? Welp, it doesn’t work in his favor and Stannis miserably loses the battle if you can even call it that. All I can say is Melisandre you best be using some of that magic on our boy next season.

9. Sansa and Littlefinger in the tombs
Arguably one of the most important scenes of the 5th season (holy were actually in the 5th season?!) The discussion of Jon Snow’s mother and whether or not Ned Stark was actually Jon’s father has always lingered in the shadows for die hard GoT fans. This season we finally heard whispers (Littlefinger) and stories (Ser Barristan RIP) about Rhaegar Targaryen and his love for Lyanna Stark – Ned’s sister. Hmm, could this possibly mean Jon was never Ned’s stark but instead the child of his deceased sister? Which would mean Rhaegar was Lyanna’s baby daddy, and Catelyn stark got jealous of a made up prostitute for no reason! Littlefinger hints something at the sort to Sansa in the Winterfell tombs but she’s too busy worrying about her wedding night to think anything of it. Girl where yo head at?

8. Jon Snow and white walker fight
This was definitely the battle of the season, sorry Sons of Harpees and Stannis – that wasn’t even a battle bro. When Jon Snow arrives at Hardhome all eyes our on our ginger lumbersexual- lol ahem I mean duh the wildlings. And then duh THE FREAKIN’ ZOMBIFIED WHITE WALKERS TOBOGGANING OFF THAT CLIFF THO. Nobody was expecting it, especially the wildlings woman kissing her daughter goodbye like girl showing emotion gets you killed off this show no surprise there. The battle leads to a one-on-one fight between Jon Snow and one of the grandpa white walkers. Jon heads for the cabin that has all the dragon glass and by all I mean like one piece. He can’t get to it and instead grabs his sword because his is the biggest and baddest  (insert dirty look emoji) and surprisingly blocks grandpas blade and then stabs it through him killing the White Walker. Which tells us that dragon glass isn’t the only thing that can kill a white walker. Which leads me to believe everyone needs to get their butts over to Valyria and start diggin”! UPDATE: Lumbersexual made it out alive, no hairs were burned or harmed during this scene. Phew.

7. Arya says goodbye to herself
As a book reader I always loved Arya’s storyline. And although I didn’t get through all the books I did get pretty far with Arya’s storyline at the house of black and white. Loved it, because who didn’t love Kill Bill? Bad ass birches getting sh*t done. We’re all about the heroines. Okay. So loved this scene the way it was shot was beautiful. How a scene with no dialogue brings such emotion is absolutely brilliant and is a testament to how filmmaking can do so much with so little (and by little I mean words not money because they definitely have a lot of that). I just love the irony in all of this, how the one person who wants to remember her past, who is only motivated by the names of these horrible people has to literally give that all up to move forward. When she pulls out needle and contemplates on getting rid of it, you remember everything’s she’s been through, and needle is the only thing that’s seen it all just as she has. It’s heartbreaking and powerful and will probably be one of my favourite scenes of the series. FYI, she doesn’t give up needle, she hides it.

6. Tyrion and Khaleesi
Okay so I’ll admit it. I never thought in the beginning or even last season that Tyrion’s journey would lead to Khaleesi but it all makes sense now and I love it! Of course she needs his help, let’s be real here, Khaleesi, Tyrion, and Jon Snow are the trifecta of George R.R Martin’s books. They’re his favourite characters, they will have to meet at some point. But of course it takes him more than half the season to get to her but it was so worth it! And home girl was looking on point when Tyrion showed himself at the fighting pits! Huge scene, not just because we’ve been waiting, well some of us, but we were waiting for them to meet, but also what it means for the future of the show. Looks like Tyrion will finally get to try his hand at ruling a kingdom.

5. Arya gets Kill Bill
Finally we get some revenge! When Arya spots Ser Maryn Trant at the docks in Braavos she knows what’s up. She follows him like a paparazzi all day, until he ends up at the whore house where we learn he’s also a pedophile. But Arya’s like next level right now so she wastes no time in borrowing one of the many faces to sneak into the whore house and stab that a**hole in both his eyes and then continues to stab him in the stomach a few more times. Wasn’t it great? And then, because she doesn’t consider herself better, or just because she felt like it she gets down on his level, to her knees, tells him who she is. Arya Stark! He babbles and we as the audience get that he gets she’s Arya Stark. It all clicked, we felt it. And then she slits his throat. Ohhhh yeah. Then she loses her eyes but girl do not give up!

4. Khaleesi gets kidnapped?

Yes this has a question mark at the end because does she get kidnapped in the season finale or does she get swarmed and celebrated by her original OG people? Because really, they need to stop yelling, or create a distinct yelling sound that express danger as opposed to like a celebratory yelling. I mean I would love to think they’re cheering her on, and welcoming her back to their squad, but that’s probably not the case. However, I do think this is the perfect opportunity to show just how smart and brave she can be on her own. She’s always been surrounded by her protectors and obviously her dragons, but I think Our Queen will come out of this even stronger, and who knows maybe they will join her regime. Because clearly the Unsullied aren’t doing their jobs properly.

khaleesi kidnapped, khaleesi and drogon, dragon names game of thrones, jon snow dead

3. Cersei’s walk of shame
This scene is award worthy. Not for the CGi because some of us could really tell Lena Heady’s head wasn’t really on dat bod. But damn those writers sure got it right when they figured out how to shame Cersei Lannister. I don’t think this is the end of her sadly, but it was an amazing scene that I think needed to happen in this season. If it wasn’t for a bunch of crazier things that happened after that, people would still be talking about that walk.

cersei walk of shame, cersei lannister, game of thrones finale, jon snow dead

2. Khaleesi rides a dragon
YAAAAS QUEEN. This scene in the fighting pits was absolutely cray cray. The Sons of Harpees reveal themselves at the fighting pits surrounding Our Queen and her people. Ser Jorah saves the day but real talk Drogon saved the day. At the last second as Khaleesi and her people are basically done for, Khaleesi closes her eyes, and we hear Drogon! Drogon swoops in burns a whole bunch of Harpees, and then waits for his mama to get enough courage to hop on dat and ride off into the sunset.  I love how Dario and Ser Jorah try and try but they’ll never be a dragon, the thirst. But really boys, don’t stop because she still needs your help. That animal got her lost. So, I also loved this scene because in that same episode Shireen dies. And if you recall Shireen showed us and Ser Davos that in her storybooks princesses do fly on dragons. Ugh so cute.

1. Jon Snow’s dead….but not really
A BIG LOL @ everyone who thinks Jon Snow is dead. You guys really think his journey is done? Ya think Melisandre is going to give up on that D? Hell no. I did not for a second believe he’s dead. Okay technically he’s dead, but he’s coming back. Because hello, people do come back in GoT world and don’t think we don’t know about Lady Stoneheart! I see you DW + DB. Trying to trick us with these fake interviews and sh*t. No.

Game of Thrones: Top 10 Moments of Season 4

It’s been a few months since the Game of Thrones season 4 finale, and we’re officially wrapping up this epic season with a countdown of the greatest moments from season 4. A ton of stuff happened, so if we left anything out, comment or Tweet us. Join the discussion.

Oh and there will be spoilers! You’ve been warned.

Arya Bye

10.Arya leaves Westeros

We’re starting off this countdown with the final scene of this season, Arya stark has officially left the buildin’!! After her long and scary journey, she has the chance to finally use the Braavosi coin she received so many seasons ago. She hitches a ride on a Braavosi ship and doesn’t look back. I cannot wait for Arya’s journey in the upcoming seasons. Traditionally, they end off the seasons with a final dragon/Khaleesi shot, but this season they chose differently. I wonder if that was on purpose. This year at Comic Con a fan asked Maisie Williams (Arya) what to expect of her character in the next season, she replied ‘I am no one’. For readers of the book, this is everything

9. Grandma Tyrell admits to murdering Joffrey

Did she really admit it though? Another reason why I love Game of Thrones – the women always get a chance to shine. Lady Olenna (Margaery’s grandmother) was the definition of a boss ass bish this season when she refused to let the Lannisters control her granddaughter and the plans for the royal wedding. Whether she was in a scene with her granddaughter or Tywin Lannister, she always had something smart and sassy to say, and she usually had the last word. She might be a cute lil’ old lady but she sure knows what she’s doing, I’m sure jaws dropped when she admitted to Margaery that she had been planning Joffrey’s murder with Littlefinger. Say whaaaat!? Amazing, more twists and turns just how we like it. Also she’s given Margaery this sense of strong support and backing, and it’s really coming in use now that Margaery has to sort of ‘swoon’ Prince Tommen away from his over bearing mother Cersei.

8. Bran leaves Jon at the Night’s Watch

I think one of the reasons we love Game of Thrones so much is because they know how to break our hearts and somehow make us love them even more. The journey of Bran Stark is a long and grueling one, so when his crew arrives at the Night’s Watch every single fan was hoping for Bran to reunite with his older brother Jon. Unfortunately, the Stark children are too smart for their own good, Bran watches his brother fight and makes a heart breaking decision to leave without seeing his brother. Bran understood that the mission of finding the three eyed raven (damn you bird!) was more important than him reuniting with Jon. He knew once Jon saw him, he would never let his younger brother go beyond the wall, ruining their entire mission. Really heartbreaking scene though.

7. Prince of Dorne / Tyrion talk

Probably one of the best chats of the season, the Prince of Dorne visits Tyrion in his prison cell. This is where everyone jumped on the Dorne bandwagon, and a crucial scene for the writers wanting the audience to take OB’s side. Oberyn’s insights on the Cersei/Tyrion dynamic proves to the audience how smart and sensitive he really is. So now we like him more right? He explains the first time he ever met the Lannister children, Tyrion was still a baby. His sister Cersei hated him even then and Oberyn always wondered how one sister could hate her brother so deeply. And then he unleashes a bombshell and tells Tyrion he will fight for him during the trial by battle. So now we like and we’re worried about him too!?! Oh god this isn’t going to end well.

Littlefinger Pushes Lysa

6. Littlefinger pushes Lysa

This guy…basically started the entire show. He was behind Jon Arryn’s death, he was behind mostly everything that went wrong for the Starks…and now he’s behind Lady Lysa of the Vail because he’s about to push her into the vortex!! After he saves Sansa from King’s Landing, he lies to everyone at the Vail about her, calling her his ‘niece’. He marries Sansa’s aunt Lysa, and puts himself that much closer to ruling the Vail (practically untouchable by enemies because it sits on top of a mountain) When Lysa sees Littlefinger kissing Sansa, she freaks out and almost kills the young girl. But Littlefinger has bigger plans, one that doesn’t involve a wrinkly old witch…and one that does involve a young and beautiful red head.  He pushes Lysa into the empty hole that is thousands of feet in the air. Bye bye crazy auntie!

dragons-in-chains

5. Khaleesi locks up her dragons

We didn’t get to see a whole lot of our Khaleesi this season, but when we did see her she was most likely depressed over how powerful her teenager dragons had become. When Drogon ends up scorching a little girl from town, she has no choice but to lock up Viserion and Rhaegal (Drogon is missing). It was such an emotional scene, and probably one of the most expensive because we got to see the dragons up close…and in chains? Okay I hope those things are strong enough.

Bloood

4. Prince of Dorne Battle

Everyone loves Oberyn. From his first on screen moment he had all the ladies, and probably men cheering for him. He was the bad boy/sweetheart/nymphomaniac this season needed, and boy did he play it well to the last second. Instantly he became a fan favourite because he literally didn’t give a s@!% about what people thought of him- especially the Lannisters. He really was the knight in shining armour for Tyrion, until Gregor Clegane smushed his head so hard his brains poured out of his eyes. Graphic enough? Also, it could probably be one of the most nail biting moments of the season – true definition of a ‘trial by battle’.

Purple_Wedding

3. Joffrey Dies at his own wedding

Okay we definitely knew this was going to happen, but at a wedding- his own wedding?! Well, obviously, did you guys not watch season 3 episode 9? Nothing good ever comes out of a wedding in Game of Thrones. This was the moment every single fan had been waiting for, unfortunately it came at a time when we sort of forgot about Joffrey. It should’ve happened in his prime douchebagerry days. Nevertheless, it was an epic scene, I didn’t know what to do, laugh/cry/clap, the makeup design on poisoned Joffrey was on point. Everyone says that the book readers must find it boring or ‘not as fun’ because we know what’s about to happen. Let me just say, I was so excited for this episode, for this scene, it was worth the 6 month 1200 page read. Trust me.

Bye Daddy

2. Tyrion Lannister greatest speech of all time and then kills Tywin Lannister (his father).

Don’t mind the long title- It’s because I couldn’t find a way of separating these two scenes, because they sort of come hand in hand in understanding what led Tyrion to do what he did.  Tyrion’s speech in court showed all the pain and hurt he’s suffered through his entire life. Not only as a child, but seeing his love Shay walk onto the stand and admit to the court that she thought Tyrion was a ‘monster’, it was absolutely painful. After having a father that wants him dead, and Shay having left him for his father, what other choice did he have? He needed to make peace with King’s Landing before leaving, even if that meant killing his daddy while he was in the loo. I’ve discussed this with a bunch of people, and it was almost like everyone understood why it had to happen, but I don’t think anyone expected it to go down the way it did. Fact: Tywin is really dead, he’s not coming back. With everything Tyrion dealt with this season he really deserved a strong finish, of course it’s not just about Tyrion getting revenge, it’s also about the Kingdom. What the f is going to happen now that Prince Tommen doesn’t have Grandpapa to guide him? It might be the end of the blonde bobbleheads. Honourable Mentions: Jamie Lannister and the Eunuch who came out of the woodworks to help Tyrion escape.

Love

1. Jon Snow and Ygritte

Okay so some people will definitely disagree with this one being the number one moment but as a female fan of the show – I love the love stories!! We’ve seen our fair share of romances through the seasons, but Jon Snow and Ygritte was definitely/most probably the greatest of all time. When I read this scene in the book I immediately wished I could see it play in front of me. Some days (because I truly contemplate the outcomes of GoT on a daily basis – usually on the subway) I wish more happened in that scene, I wish they got to have a little more privacy (hello there were arrows flying around), but I still feel like it was the right timing, and it was just a tragically beautiful scene. But wipe those tears away…did you know the actors who play Jon and Ygritte are dating in real life? That makes me feel much better, but is Jon Snow ever going to find true love? Or maybe he’s destined for something greater like Khaleesi, maybe these two major characters are just never going to find real love. Maybe they’ll find each other? Okay I need to stop.

This was one of the most challenging countdowns to write up because there were so many great moments from this season, if you feel like we missed anything Tweet or Message us and let us know!

Game of Thrones: POLL

So this Sunday’s episode of Game of Thrones didn’t have any murders or weddings or any weddings with murders, but it did reveal a whole lot. After years of thinking the Lannister’s were behind Jon Arryn’s death, Littlefinger reveals that it was him who convinced Lysa to poison her husband. Wow- are you telling me Littlefinger basically starting everything that led to everything that’s happened in the show? Pretty much. And now I’m just talking to myself.Bran-Stark-and-Jon-Snow-bran-stark-24487536-1280-720

I’m not going to get into everything that went down, because frnakly there’s better Game of Thrones Recaps out there: Click here for EW’s but I will offer up another GoT Poll.

If you were Brandon Stark, what would you have done in that moment? Choose your destiny, or choose to call out your brother and have him protect you until the end of time? I don’t know this is a hard one.

Top 10 Toughest Women on TV

We’ve come up with a list of the Top 10 Toughest Women on TV. See who made the cut below.

  1. Arya Stark, Game of Thrones (HBO)

This girl is not yet a woman but she is definitely worthy of this list. Arya Stark has gone through a lot in her youth, she’s seen things no normal 13-year old should see. She’s been on her own since the first season (we’re now heading into the fourth. Throughout her everlasting search for her family, she’s had to pretend being a boy (up until this season where it’s clear she’s becoming a woman). She hasn’t gotten a full night’s sleep because she’s been busy protecting herself, even if protection comes in a very scary murderous beast- Sandor Clegane. When she does find her mother and brother…they’re being slaughtered at her uncle’s wedding and all she can do is hide in the shadows and watch. Although she’s spent most of her time running, she isn’t afraid of fighting, in fact she’s always been a fighter. She was raised a princess, but refused to let that stop her from playing with swords and shields.

The fourth book (and fourth seasn) holds more potential for the young Stark girl. She’s really going to find her path…this show is all about the underdogs and I can’t wait for Arya to rise up and unleash the direwolf inside her.

  1. Piper Chapman, Orange is the New Black (Netflix)

Piper’s the newest addition on this list; with a brand new show on Netflix- Orange is the New Black. Piper in the beginning of the season is not the same Piper at the end of the season. She goes through a huge transformation, but I think that’s what makes her such a strong character. No character is perfect, that wouldn’t make for great TV, but Piper’s journey is definitely an entertaining ride…she’s not as innocent as she seems.

Piper gets sentenced to a low security all female prison, her journey starts right when the guard asks her to bend over to check her butt for contraband. She’s seems like an innocent white girl, but we see Piper hone her survival skills. It’s all about the different challenges, whether it be with the other inmates or even the guards. Piper’s smarter and surprisingly stronger…as the season unfolds we see a whole new side of Piper.

  1. Fiona Gallagher, Shameless (Showtime)

Fiona Gallagher may be an emotional wreck…but she is one tough woman when it comes to taking care of her younger siblings. When her parents abandon her and her five siblings, Fiona steps up to the plate and makes it her mission to pay the bills and make sure everyone gets to school on time. On top of working two or three jobs, she makes a point to get her GED since she had to drop out of high school to take care of her siblings.

Fiona doesn’t have it all together all the time; it’s easy to forget that she’s just a 20 year old and ultimately has her own life to live. But she always comes back to the fact that if she wasn’t there, those kids would have nobody. And it’s not just the 16-year olds she’s taking care of, she’s feeding and changing diapers for their half black brother- baby Liam.  Such an amazing character, and we salute Fiona for being the best housewife even if she ain’t no wifey just yet.

  1. Mary Crawley (Downtown Abbey)

1920s English countryside was not a fair time for women, their roles were pretty straightforward, train to be a lady until a man comes along and decides to marry you. Or your family just arranges the entire thing. So it’s understandable that Mary Crawley of Downtown Abbey is a very snappy and unhappy young lady.

The first season opens up to the death of her fiancée and she really doesn’t give a hoot. As the season goes on she ultimately finds another love interest that warms her up a little. From there her storyline changes so drastically that create different opportunities for her, we uncover a whole new side of this woman who is now in a powerful position.

  1. Deborah Morgan, Dexter (Showtime)

I think it’s safe to say there would be no Dexter without Deborah. And there would be no Deb without Dex. Deborah is another emotional wreck, but she kept it together for the most part of the show….until the final two seasons, then she just goes cray cray. But she always remained good and she always played a strong support for main character Dexter.

If it hadn’t been for the series finale, Deborah wouldn’t be on this list. Yes she was fantastic throughout the entire series, yes she had been a tough cookie all along, but that finale just summed up everything she was, and gave her a really beautiful ending…even if it was uber cheesetastic. She always put Dexter’s happiness before hers and wouldn’t let anything come between Dex and his son Harrison. Althoug she had a rough exterior, she knew what it meant to be family and always kept them close.

We love Deborah for all the f bombs she’s dropped…we love Deb because she proved any woman can still be a main character and have horrible wardrobe…and that workplace relationships really do work. Deb you really were a tough woman in TV and you’ll be missed. Sorry we didn’t like the series finale.

  1. Joan Harris, Mad Men (AMC)

Joan is probably the big shocker on this list. I really contemplated whether she deserved to be here, and well…here we are. I think most people would consider Peggy to be the tough female in Mad Men, but Joan is a different kind of tough. First off, she’s had one if not the biggest improvement of any character on that show. She started off as the big boob secretary in the office that only had screen time when she was having an affair. Now she’s playing with the big boys, and the best part of it all is that she still knows how to act like a lady. She’s never tried to be ‘one of the guys’ she embraces her strengths and advantages as a woman in the work force, and gets what she wants. She is an independent woman honey! You go girl.

  1. Gemma Teller, Sons of Anarchy (FX)

Ridin’ through this world…with tacky blonde highlights…Yes people Gemma Teller has made this list. I mean really how could she not? I’m literally terrified at every time she raises her voice. She’s like the cool mom whose clothes you think you can borrow but when she finds out (and she will because she is that smart) she will literally cut you, kill you…and then cover it up.

You know what, I love Gemma she is the coolest grandmother on TV, she’s messed up, but she goes with what she has and family is everything to her. She’s a woman in a man’s world and that’s exactly how she wants it. She loves being the matriarch, and she’ll do anything to anyone if she feels her role is in danger. Don’t mess with her boys. She is a boss ass bitch.

  1. Olivia Pope, Scandal (ABC)

Because any woman who can deliver a 30 line monologue in under 30 seconds deserves to be on this list. It’s true, Olivia Pope isn’t just good at delivering epic speeches, she’s also a strong, smart, and sassy gladiator in a very expensive and fine tailored suit. She’s not really a gladiator, but that’s what her and her coworkers call themselves. They’re ‘fixers’ in Washington, and Olivia is on the ball round the clock trying to save what’s left of her clients’ reputation. But what really drives her? We don’t know too much about this motivated heroine, but we’re starting to learn more about her life in this new season. Furthermore, I don’t think anyone but Kerry Washington could’ve played Olivia Pope. These two women blend together so effortlessly, it makes the character that much more believable. Olivia always knows what to say, and more importantly…she knows what to wear. Girl has good taste.

  1. Lana Winters, American Horror Story:Asylum (FX)

Lana was a close first for me, in my opinion American Horror Story is the best show on TV right now. Not because of the blood or because it’s scary…or because of Jessica Lange…it’s because Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy have created such brilliant and beautiful characters against a dark and lustrous backdrop, something spectacular is bound to happen. Lana Winters had an amazing journey through the second season of AHS, it didn’t even matter what else was happening in the show- we just needed to know Lana was safe.

She was falsely admitted into a psych ward, she was rescued by her doctor only to be kidnapped and raped by him. When she did escape she realized she was pregnant and had his baby who turned out to be a psychotic killer like his father. She went on to write several novels about her crazy life which paid her in fame and money. In the end, after one of her interviews, she comes face to face with the killer that calls her ‘mommy’. And she doesn’t hesitate…she kills him right there on her living room floor. Lana Winters survived all of this…I think that makes her a pretty tough woman.

  1. Khaleesi, Game of Thrones (HBO)

I don’t think you have to be a Game of Thrones nerd to understand why Khaleesi will go down in TV history as the toughest character under 6 ft. She is the ultimate heroine, she is the mother of dragons, she will seek her revenge and it will be amazing.

She has a come a long way in a very short amount of time. There’s a lot that happens in the Khaleesi chapters in the novels. She on the rise, building her army, and now that her dragons are growing rapidly, she feels stronger than ever.Although she’s a mother, it doesn’t mean Khaleesi loses any swagger…quite the opposite. The birth of the dragons gives her a surge of confidence no man could ever replicate. Because of this, she knows how to work it to get what she wants from her soldiers, and for that we love her. I haven’t finished reading all the books, but I think it’s obvious she will end up being the one that conquers all. There is nobody tougher than her.

GAME OF THRONES: Season Finale

This Sunday was the season finale of HBO’s biggest hit- Game of Thrones. GOT has been the biggest asset for the popular network, that hasn’t seen this amount of success since The Sopranos. Sunday’s season finale raked in a whopping 5.4 million viewers, but with GOT being the most illegally downloaded TV show…that number is most likely higher.

TheonBut let’s forget about the numbers and recount what happened in episode 10 and why it lacked the ‘holy ****’ factor like in episode 9.

What I’ve noticed with Game of Thrones season finales is that it’s usually an anti climactic ending in comparison to the jaw dropping events of episode 9. You’ll recall Tyrion’s Battle of the Blackwater…that all happened in episode 9 which didn’t leave any major battle scenes for the season finale. Not that GOT is big on battle scenes, there are usually 1 or 2 major fight scenes in a season, everything else revolves around the game of thrones, all the political bull poo.

Having said that, the writers still leave us with a whole lot to think about for the next year while we await season 4. Khaleesi is more than just the mother of dragons, she is a mother to her people…she has taken over cities and in doing so adopted all the slaves and has given them freedom. In return for their freedom they vow to honour and protect her..and why wouldn’t they…hello she has dragons!

I think most of us have wondered why we’re still watching Theon Greyjoy get tortured, because it’s clearly interrupting Khaleesi’s airtime. In the finale we finally figure out who Theon’s torturer is…but unfortunately never get to hear Theon sing ‘Dick in a Box’…how funny would that have been? Roose Bolton who is the man that killed Robb Stark and his mother at the Red Wedding has been appointed Warden of the North. He’s also the father of a bastard son- Ramsay Snow which is the guy torturing Theon. This story goes way back when Winterfell was captured by Theon…only to be recaptured by Ramsay. Theon’s scary sister learns about Theon’s kidnapping and sets sail with her men to bring back her brother. Cute!

Someone that won’t be bringing back her brother is Arya. I love her…especially now that she’s all Dexter with Lord Frey’s bannermen. Arya and the Hound make their way slowly through the forest until they stumble upon a group of soldiers eating by a fire. Arya jumps off the horse, sneaks up behind the one dude and legit slices him a part. By the time the other men realize, the Hound is already there and slices them all. The Hound isn’t happy, but you can tell he’s proud of Arya…especially now that they have free food and fire. We love you Arya. The saddest thing for A is that she’s been on this journey to find her mother, and now her mother’s dead and she has nowhere to go. It’ll be interesting to see where these two end up…either way she’s in good hands.

Jon Snow and Ygritte meet again…possibly for the last time? Jon takes a break with his horse, Ygritte rides up and is pointing her arrow at him. He tells her she must’ve known who he really was…he would always be a crow, but he admitted to loving her. Instead of letting him go, she shoots 3 arrows into Jon before he gets a chance to ride away on his horse. This is the one story I’m really mad about it…I was sad about Robb and Catelyn…but I’m mad about these 2. I thought it would be a happy ending for Y and J…I guess we’ll have to wait until next season.

YgritteProbably the best scene out of the finale was between Lord Tywin Lannister and his grandson King Joffrey. After hearing about the Red Wedding massacre, Joffrey decides he wants to bring Robb’s head to King’s Landing and serve it on a plate for Sansa at his wedding feast. Seriously, even Cersei thinks this kid has gone too far. ‘She is no longer yours to torment’ Tyrion says, and reminds Joffrey ‘Kings are dying like flies’. This is true, but obviously Joffrey doesn’t take threats very well.  Joffrey babbles on that he is the King and he will punish Tyrion…the camera pans over to Tywin who has that same disgusted look on his face. His words resonate with everyone in the room…’No true king needs to declare himself king’…SILENCE! Boom! Even though Tywin ordered the murder of King Robb and his mother, he still gets double points for this insult. Joffrey is speechless…he doesn’t dare defy his grandfather? Oh but he does.  He insults his grand daddy by saying his father Robert Baratheon is the real king for slaying the Targaryens and claiming the iron throne, all while Tywin was hiding at Casterly Rock.  Camera flashes to everyone’s faces as they take in the insult…Tyrion is ecstatic that Joffrey has begun to really annoy the small council. Even the Eunuch isn’t pleased.

Joffrey

Tywin orders everyone to leave the room except for Tyrion. They discuss the Red Wedding massacre, Tyrion reminds him the Northerners will never forget, but Tywin isn’t worried. It’s obvious that Tywin is more powerful than King Joffrey, he’s the man calling the shots…and at this point he’ll do anything to protect the Lannister family. He tells Tyrion he’s appointed Roose Bolton as Warden of the North until Tyrion and Sansa have a son…he will be the ultimate heir of the North. That forces Tyrion to admit he isn’t going to ‘rape’ Sansa to have a kid, if she’s not ready she’s not ready. Tyrion tries to turn the tables around on his father and accuses him of never sacrificing anything for his family. Tywin admits the day Tyrion was born he wanted to kill him because he was half a man…but instead let him live because after all…he was still a Lannister. Ouch.

But Tyrion shouldn’t worry too much about Sansa’s virginity because his main mistress Shae refuses the Eunuch’s plea for her to leave King’s Landing. The Eunuch bribes Shae with a bag of diamonds..and I have to say the Eunuch has been on the good side lately, he begs her to leave King’s Landing in search of a better life…a place she can be wealthy and beautiful and men will beg for her hand in marriage. He tells her there’s nothing left for her in King’s Landing…she will always be a whore…and worse she might even die! Shae isn’t just a whore…she’s smart and strong (just like the other women in the show-excluding Sansa) she refuses the bag of diamonds and tells the Eunuch if Tyrion wants her to leave…he should tell her himself. You go girl!

DiamondsJamie enters King’s Landing but nobody recognizes him. It’s been a long journey for the golden haired Lannister…but he finally makes it back to King’s Landing with his right hand woman Brienne. He looks all dirty and smelly..and obviously without his right hand. We see him enter Cersei’s quarters and she notices his hand right away. No words are exchanged but you can tell Cersei is dissapointed. At least he has his other man parts girl! The reunion in the book was way more dramatic…maybe they will save the rest for next season.

CerseiJamie

And finally, our beloved Khaleesi ends off the episode as always with a beautiful dragon scene. Momma’s dragons have been MIA the entire season but we do get to see the whiny beasts before the end. Khaleesi is a liberator, she believes in letting the slaves be free…and if they choose to stand behind her then that’s her decision. She offers the army of slaves to be a part of her clan…not so they can protect her but so they can have a better life and protect themselves. She tells them they are free from this point on to do whatever they wish. The crowd starts chanting ‘mother’ in their language…Khaleesi walks down into the mosh of slaves…Ser Jorah is worried keeping a steady eye on his Queen. A few seconds go by and Khaleesi emerges from the crowd sitting on people’s shoulders as they lift her higher and chant ‘mother’. Yay!

khaleesi

This girl needs to build herself a boat and get her ass to Westeros!

Dragons

What did you guys think of the finale? Expectations of season 4 …I want to hear them!
