Remembering GIRLS!

Season 3 of HBO’s surprise hit Girls is only a few months away…and although we don’t have an official premiere date…we can still rejoice in the crazy antics they left us off with in season 2.

Charlie isn’t coming back so that whole scene with him and Marnie walking off into the ‘sunset’ is not going to make much sense in the upcoming season. We’ll see what Dunham has in store for us.

In the meantime, enjoy the video I put together!

GIRLS: Bye Bye Charlie!

There are many spoilers surrounding the upcoming season of Girls, but one that’s definitely true  – bye bye Charlie!

Which leaves us wondering what the hell is going to happen to Marnie in the third season? Last season we left off with the longtime on and off again couple finally working things out, and it seemed like they would be together for the third. Now, everything’s changed and Marnie’s back to being single …which as we know isn’t all that fun too watch!

Apparently, Charlie (played by Christopher Abbott) had a falling out with Lena Dunham on set…and decided he wanted out of the show. How much of that is true…we really don’t know…but Christopher did leave the show abruptly which leads us to assume some drrrama went down.

Here’s what Allison Williams who plays Marnie had to say about the situation:

“It’s unfortunate that [Abbott] is no longer a part of the family,” she added of her costar. But Williams is also confident that the writers of the show will make it work.

“The minute I heard the news, there wasn’t a single doubt in my mind that [they] would come up with great stuff for Marnie to be doing,” she shared. “And what we’ve done so far and what we’re continuing to do is so excellent.”

We all know Lena Dunham is a genius, but how will she come out of this one? Will he have a soap opera ending and die in a car crash… or will he decide to move to Silicon Valley with the success of his iPhone app?…I guess we will see.

As for Marnie…Williams says,  “It’s almost as if we skipped her third season and have gone on to single Marnie.”

Waah! Photos from the set of the third season have leaked, showing a very toned and in shape Marnie.  Instead of sulking about Charlie, she is putting hard time in at the gym! If only that would work for all of us.

Game of Thrones: The Killing

With the second last episode of the season, tonight’s episode of Game of Thrones was probably the best yet. Right off the start there was action…Jon Snow finally gets his chance to escape the wildling clan, Khaleesi and her men do work…and Robb Stark…well let’s not get into that just yet.

Khaleesi and her army come up with a plan to take over another city…seems like that’s all she’s doing these days. Her new man with the piercing blue eyes knows how to sneak in through the city walls, Sir Jorah is totally jealous that he’s not the go-to-guy anymore. They breach the city walls, but come face to face with an entire army…we see them battle it out and then the scene cuts. In the end, Sir Jorah and her Unsullied return with good news…although they’re covered in blood. Khaleesi looks worried as she asks for Daario. Ser Jorah looks sad…but most likely because Daario is still alive…and very into Khaleesi.

Arya and The Hound make their way to the castle….closer to Arya’s mother and Robb.

Bran, Rickon and the rest of their crew find shelter in an abandoned windmill. As they’re waiting out the storm they hear a horse approaching…all of a sudden two major story lines in the show intersect and the episode just got a whole lot cooler.  Jon and his wildling crew have past the wall and are now taking over land. They come across a house and decide to kill the man inside before he can warn the crows. One of the wildlings hears screaming from the windmill…Hodor is inside freaking out because of the thunderstorm. They try to calm him down but he doesn’t stop screaming until Brnn does some weird thing and goes into Hodor’s mind…shutting him up. Bran is surprised at his warg ability…because he’s never done this in real life…especially not to another human. He’s done it in his dreams, but tonight…he does it for realz. Back on the ground, the wildlings catch up to the man on the horse and are about to cut his head off until one of the wildlings asks Jon Snow to kill the guy.

Bran forces himself and uses his warg powers to jump into Summer the direwolf who is on the ground near Jon Snow. He does his weird eye rolling thing and is immediately inside Summer. He can see everything that is happening downstairs…he can actually see Jon Snow. Jon Snow is about to kill the man, Ygritte is begging him to do it, but after a few minutes Jon stalls and immediately starts a fight with the wildlings. Ygritte defends him, the direwolf jumps into the fight ripping the wildlings a part. In the end, Jon Snow breaks free, he gets onto a horse and gallops away leaving Ygritte alone. I completely forgot what happened in the book…I couldn’t remember if Jon comes back for Ygritte…but seeing it happen and seeing the disappointment in her face as he gallops away…it was so emotional!ygritte

Back in the tower, Bran advises Rickon they should separate, if anything happens to them at least there will be one heir to Winterfell alive…little do they know now they are the only two left.

So the wedding is one of the biggest moments of this third season, when I read the book I was absolutely shocked when I read it, I literally refused to believe it. I went back and forth reading over the chapter making sure it wasn’t a bad dream…but actually happens. I was confused as to why they would kill more members of the Stark family…haven’t they been through enough? Haven’t WE been through enough? Why can’t they just have a happy ending?

Robb gets his uncle to marry one of Lord Walder Frey daughter’s after Robb failed on his promise to marry one of them. Apparently, Tully never got over this and after the wedding sets up Robb, his wife, and Lady Catelyn. It was the hardest twenty minutes to get through, I knew it was coming, I knew tears would be coming…and I wasn’t mistaken.

It was a really emotional few minutes. Arya and The Hound are so close…Arya is finally going to reunite with her family…and I can only imagine how surprising this must’ve been for fans who hadn’t read the book. After Robb’s uncle and new wife are escorted out of the hall…Robb’s wife tells him that she is pregnant…she has decided on a name for the child if it’s a boy…it will be Eddard Stark. Robb is so proud, he’s so happy…Catelyn looks over at them and she forms a smile for the couple.  Everything is going so well…obviously something is going to happen because nothing ever good happens to the Starks. After most of the crowd has left the hall…one of the guards shuts the door…hearing the lock sound…you just know something’s going to happen. Catelyn is totally sketched out…there’s a look on her face…she’s skeptical. Frey calls for everyone’s attention. Robb is beaming with joy…he’s totally ready to get out of there and celebrate his wife’s pregnancy with his people.

Frey reminds them of how they betray him…how they promised Robb would marry one of his daughter’s, Robb took an oath…and he broke it. Catelyn looks over at the guy beside her…she knows…she looks under his suit and he’s wearing his war chains. She stands up and warns Robb but it is too late…there’s a guard charging at his wife, they stab her stomach repeatedly, Robb tries to run for her but a swarm of soldiers shoot down arrows from above.

Arya is at the gates of the hall. She sees the soldiers from Winterfell, she hears them cheering. She’s about to remove herself from the shadows when Frey soldiers come by and kill the Winterfell soldiers. She hangs back until everyone is gone, she knows something horrible has happened. In the end, Catelyn tries pleading for her son’s life. Robb is looking over his dead wife’s body, he is completely dead inside…another guard comes up to him and stabs a final blow into him. Catelyn stands there, she tries to take Frey’s wife captive…but he doesn’t really care claiming ‘he can just find another one’. Catelyn slices the girls neck…and a guard comes from behind and cuts Catelyn’s throat.

She spots the direwolf in the cages, she tries to go and free it but another group of soldiers comes by and six of them shoot arrows into the cage…you hear a small whelp from the direwolf and we see it go down. For the Starks, the direwolf connection is so strong, when Robb is killed…the wolf dies with him. OMG so sad this scene killed me. Just as Arya is about to run towards the direwolf The Hound finds her and picks her up. He hits her over the head and carries her away from the carnage.

Game of Thrones: RECAP

WhiteWalkerThese past 8 weeks have been extremely difficult for me….dealing with the new season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. I finished the 3rd book last summer and have been waiting patiently, sometimes impatiently for the show to catch up to my readings. It’s been a great challenge keeping what might be the best book out of the entire series in secrecy…until the season 3 finale. The third book is definitely the one that will change everything for everyone, I almost considered quitting the show because of what happens in the book, but then I thought Who am I kidding? Anyways, now that we have found a new love for Jamie Lannister…we can move on to his smaller sibling- Tyrion.

TyrionSansaIt almost seemed like Sansa was free of King’s Landing when Littlefinger offered to save her…but evidently the God’s have decided to continue making Sansa’s life a living hell. At this point, Arya is having a better time than her red headed sibling. Isn’t it so weird to think of them as siblings? They literally shared 2 or 3 scenes together in the first season and haven’t been together since. It seems like Arya is getting closer to a reunion with her family…….(we hope). So Sansa and Tyrion get married, nobody really gives a hoot. In the book it’s more apparent that the kingdom could give a rat’s ass about Tyrion’s wedding because they are too busy planning the wedding of King Joffrey. Tyrion gets hammered at his wedding, why wouldn’t he? His own wife can barely look at him, she doesn’t even bother kneeling to help Tyrion when he has to cloak her and make it oh-fish-yal. And by cloaking I mean literally cloaking her in an expensive looking blanket.

JoffreyThen comes the bedding, after Joffrey makes a mockery out of his uncle’s wedding, Tyrion in an attempt to make the night end sooner takes Sansa by the hand and walks her to their chambers. He tells her he won’t sleep with her until she is ready, Sansa asks him what if she’s never ready? Tyrion makes a mental note to never give up his secret time with Shay.

It’s obvious by now that Khaleesi’s story this season hasn’t been as interesting as the last 2. She’s building her army and in the meantime avoiding juicy drama like paying attention to Ser Jorah Mormont. I know he’s so old but who doesn’t wish something would happened between him and Khaleesi! The new guy is totally sexy and has his heart set on Khaleesi, but will Jorah Mormont let that fly?

It was a good episode overall, especially for Arya Stark who finds a new friend in The Hound aka the nicest ugliest knight in the realm. The Hound has the smart idea of returning Arya safely to Robb and his mother for a big lump of moolah. It’s not just about the money, The Hound genuinely seems to care about Arya, just as he did her sister. There are two very important relationships that form within this third season, one being Jamie Lannister and Brienne and the second being Arya and The Hound. If the show follows the book word for word, The Hound will get a chance to prove how good he really is once more. I’ve been waiting for that moment for way too long.

With only two episodes remaining I’m super excited to see how this season will end, so many questions remain- how much of book 3 will they show in season 3?…how many people will die?…and will we see the end of Joffrey…the ending we’ve dreamt of since the first episode?!

Leave me some comments, I want to know what everyone is thinking.

GIRLS: Video Games

Okay, so for any of you that have seen the newest episode of HBO’s Girls, I hope we’re all thinking the same thing- WTF? I am completely lost, and have been since episode 2 of season 2. I don’t know where these characters are going, how the episodes relate to one another and why am I not loving this season like I did the first!? So last week ended with Ray brooding over his miserable life with the stray dog Adam stole. This week, we head to the boonies with Hannah and Jessa. Seriously, Jessa’s family makes Honey Boo Boo look normal. Ultimately, were stuck with Hannah, her UTI, and Jess for the next 30 minutes.

The girls arrive in Manitou (a train stop away from Poughkeepsie-Snooki’s hometown). Unfortunately for Hannah, Jessa’s dad is late as usual…Hannah needs to use the non existent restroom- but it’s okay because she has a whole lot of nature to use as her bathroom.

Hannah Peepee

At Jessa’s father’s house things get weirder when we meet Jessa’s step mom and her step brother- Frank. Hannah is a little put off by everything especially when her dad pulls up in an old car filled with old broken computers. She also doesn’t appreciate having to dry herself off with a dirty face towel. We meet Frank as Hannah and Jessa’s step mom are feeding the pet rabbit. He’s awkward as **** but Hannah has the ability to see through his awkwardness and compliments him on his folded turtle neck. Nice.

Later, the fam sit down for a nice home cooked meal- thanks rabbit! Hannah is completely grossed out which is unusual for her. We don’t really see Hannah in uncomfortable situations, she’s usually the one putting people in those awkward moments. Anyways, it’s obvious where Jessa gets her weird behavior from, her dad is a coocoo bird, he was absent her entire life, of course it’s normal for her to marry a man she’s only known for 2 weeks.

Rabbit Dinner

After dinner the girls go out for a drive with Frank and his buddy Tyler. What Hannah assumes to be a ‘sex capade’ is actually a casual drive in the boonies for Jessa. Things get a little wild in the car when Jessa covers Tyler’s eyes while he’s driving. The car almost veers off into the trees before coming to a stop. Hannah jumps out of the car, furious with the situation she’s in, she storms off into the forest. Frank follows her and they somehow hook up on the floor of the forest which turns out to be a cemetery. Ew. The sex doesn’t last for long and Hannah is left having to comfort Frank as he’s recovering from his moment. He’s really weird.

When they make their way out, Jessa is having a smoke while Tyler is throwing up in the trees. Frank goes to help him and Hannah confesses that she just had sex that lasted 8 seconds. Jessa is shocked and disgusted that she would even sleep with Frank. Hannah is completely confused at the situation, she assumed they were on a sex capade and was trying to keep the ‘continuity’. Ultimately, she was disgusted with herself.

The next morning Jessa has a heart to heart with her father, we get to see a side of Jessa we’ve never seen. She shows all of her vulnerabilities, her scars, the pain she’s had to go through without a normal father.

jessa dad

Hannah has a confrontation with Frank inside the house. She asks him if that was his first time having sex, he tries to cover it up and says it was his ‘second’. She asks him who was the first girl he slept with?

Later, the girls decide to go grocery shopping. Jessa’s dad says he can’t be seen in the parking lot because he’s fighting with the store owner. He promises to loop around and pick them up in 20 minutes. The girls finish their shopping but her dad doesn’t show up. Jessa isn’t surprised, saying he always does this. On their long walk home, holding their heavy grocery bags, it seems like Jessa has a quiet revelation. Back at the house Hannah is in the bathroom complaining about her UTI…she comes back into the bedroom to find a note from Jessa. So where did she go? Why did she leave? Is she behaving like her father because she ultimately knows she’s just like him?

Hannah finds herself back at the train station. She calls her parents and tells them how much she loves them. They are going through Hannah’s things because they’re going to visit her in a few days. They’re crazy- but she loves them.

Moral of the story love your parents? I mean at this point I have no idea what that episode was supposed to teach us. Don’t sleep with a guy in a cemetery who doesn’t use an iPod?
