Check out our podcast recap on this week’s episode of Game of Thrones ‘Battle of the Bastards’
What did you guys think?
A lot of Game of Thrones fans were disappointed with this week’s episode titled, ‘The Broken Man’ mostly because it did seem like a filler episode that basically spent the hour setting everything up for the remainder of the season. Having said that, there were still so many good moments throughout the hour – and one very special appearance from someone who we assumed was left for dead. Also Lady Olenna absolutely demolished Cersei with the greatest monologue of all time. OF ALL TIME!
No Spoilers here – but listen to our recap podcast and join the discussion!
The morning after another Game of Thrones episode. This one was a little bit of a filler but was still really, really good.
Bran and his flashbacks for the win!
Listen to our recap podcast below!
So we’ve had a few Game of Thrones teasers drop in the past week, can you guys believe it’s almost that time again? Instead of breaking down what we see or don’t see in the promos, let’s just go over what we’re really excited about this season.
The writers left off with our main characters turning a corner in their individual arcs and pointing them in a direction that will probably send them to the finale of the series. Having said that, GOT fans claim every season will top the last, but this one, I think, will have the biggest changes. Or maybe it won’t, I’m not a writer on the show but I really wish I was.
Not that I’m a crazy dog lover or anything, but seriously, where are all the damn dire wolves? I feel like a huge symbol of the Stark family rising back up will be the return of the animal(s), we know Arya’s wolf is still out there, maybe Sansa will run into it since she’s all up on the North side. Then it’ll be like a part of her sister is always with her, or not. Because really nothing good ever happens to the Starks.
The last time we saw all the white walkers they were full out zombie status at Hardhome, and Jon Snow and his crew barely made it out. That gave the zombies enough time to head to Georgia and fake kill Glenn. Ha. We haven’t seen the last of them, not that I’m particularly excited to see them again, I just have this deep dark feeling they’re going to f*** sh** up.
Seriously though, how amazing was that conversation between Khaleesi and Tyrion. Now that the two are ‘friends’ I’m hoping to see them have more deep conversations with Olivia Pope sized wine glasses. But first, let’s bring Khaleesi home!
I feel like as quickly as I remember Gendry, I quickly forget about him. But let’s not forget, technically, he is King of the seven kingdoms right now. But beyond that, I’m hoping he’s going to play some type of role this season. Last time we saw him, Davos was pushing him away into the water in the middle of the night. Maybe he’s Arya’s true soulmate and they can run the kingdom together, but again, nothing ever good happens to the Starks. I got my eye on you Gendry, even if Arya doesn’t. (Because she can’t see anymore – see what I did there?)
But really Cersei, really, how mad are you? I cannot wait for this scene to go down when Jamie Lannister has to tell his baby mama aka his sister, that their daughter is dead. She died on the way home after being sent to a very pretty resort type of living arrangement in Dorne. That last scene with Jamie and his daughter, and how she really knew the story of her mother and him, it was beautiful. But bye Felicia, your momma has done too many horrible things for you to survive this. And another thing, you know that Amber Rose slut walk Cersei Lannister shame walk, did not even phase Cersei. But the news about her daughter is definitely going to break her. But on a scale of 1 to 10…how mad are you Cersei? (Side note: Amber Rose > Kanye)
We all love Brienne, yay, girl power, feminism, cool. But real talk this girl has done nothing since the show has started, I mean she’s done a lot, she’s literally been moving all around the Game of Thrones world map looking for someone, or trying to protect someone she’s looking for. She’s on a mission but she never really completes the mission. Or like she completes the mission but Jamie’s hand is missing so it doesn’t really count. Anyways, we love Brienne, and I’m wondering if her week-long spy session on Winterfell will actually amount to anything. Is she going to save Sansa? Like maybe she needed to fail 300 missions to finally complete 1 and that’s to save Sansa. Again, girl power.
Arya’s storyline last season was amazing. She was so Uma Thurman in Kill Bill, but she was also a little rebel. As her punishment she loses her vision, and I’m wondering if that’s going to last forever or are they going to let her prove herself and then give her vision back? Maybe she’ll never get to see again, but maybe she won’t need to if her dire wolf has 20/20. Love the dogs, but don’t think her story is going that way. Either way, I’m super excited for her story. I really just want her to meet Khaleesi.
This girl is in a pickle. She literally has her hand in the pickle jar, she’s totally f*****, I don’t know how she’s going to get herself out of the pickle jar. Her dragons wish they could eat a pickle, but there’s no food around and so they’re so weak, they can’t save their momma. Khaleesi is surrounded by the Dothraki, this is how we left her last season. I mean I’m not worried about her safety. I don’t think they would kill the mother of dragons (by they I mean the writers) But they might be okay with killing one of her dragons, aka proving the point that she might not be as invincible as she thinks. Is this a possibility? CAN this happen? Should we be worried? These are all very important questions.
This one might be a little surprising for some fans, but really I’m legitimately worried/curious about Bran. I feel like even though we haven’t seen him in a season he’s done a lot of work in the background or more literally, underground in that cave thingy. I’m hoping that he might, or maybe he already is able to warg himself into Khaleesi’s dragons. Because you know, one of her dragons was missing for quite some time, so maybe he was roaming around the North and Bran was able to find a signal. Who knows, but it might make sense right? Like I’m not crazy for thinking that? Is that too ambitious for us to assume Bran has done that much work while he was away in season 5? I wouldn’t put it past this kid, he’s been making very smart decisions that even adults wouldn’t be able to make. Let’s not forget how noble he was in season 4 when he made the decision not to call out Jon’s name. Moving on.
Alright, here we are. We know that Jon snow isn’t dead. But what is he? Where is he? When will we see him again? These are all questions we want answered, sooner rather than later. Not to say that we need Jon Snow back immediately, to be honest I’m a little over the entire Night’s Watch set, so I don’t mind if we don’t go back there for a while. But I still want to know wtf happens to him. Obviously the red woman Melisandre is going to play a big part in his ‘revenant-ing’ himself, can we use that word? I think everyone is excited to see and hear his beautiful voice again. Also, everyone’s like ‘see they didn’t kill him!’ And honestly, Melisandre, girl, just send us an email, or a Tweet, we just want to know that you’re working on him, and we’ll be good.
Did we miss anything? Is there something else you’re excited to see in the upcoming season? What you guys think of having a few flashbacks with Lyanna and Rhaegar?? I want to know more about those two lovebirds.Follow @hollywd_heroine
Now that it’s been a few weeks since the Game of Thrones season 5 finale, we can start getting excited for season 6. Okay, it might be a year away but we’re allowed to speculate! Especially the way they left off with so many cliffhangers! Hi Jon you’re not dead okay 🙂 Let’s go through some of the predictions were hoping for, and some we just don’t know anything about. Jon Snow Okay so I consider Kit Harrington’s article with EW (released the second after the finale aired btw) a complete bs story. Technically, like he says in the article, Jon Snow is dead but I think and most people should think, that he’ll be brought back to life. This will probably be possible because of Melisandre. I would love to have this question answered. If the writers didn’t want us to connect Melisandre’s return to the nights watch (to a possible resurrection of Jon), why did they show that scene in the finale? Why not wait until season 6 and have us all biting our nails wondering if she’s going to make it back to the wall to save him? Here’s my theory on all of this: A. We’ve heard stories before of R’hllor the lord of light bringing people back from the dead and if you read into the entire religion or history of the lord of light there’s an like ultimate god I can’t remember his name, and he resembles Jon Snow exactly. Not by looks but by their journeys and accomplishments. Wiki fans correct me if I’m wrong here. B. The concept of bringing someone back from the dead happened in season 3 when Beric Dondarrion along with members of the Brotherhood Without Banners concerted to the religion of the Lord of Light. Beric died six times, and each time Thoros of Myr has brought him back. So we know it’s possible in this world. C. If you look at this show from a bigger perspective it doesn’t make sense to kill Jon at this point. It’s absolutely ridiculous and pointless. I’ve said this before, I believe Khaleesi/Tyrion/Jon are the trifecta characters of this series. George R R Martin spent a little more time on them, maybe he sees more of himself in these 3 characters than he does others. I don’t know what it is, but I do know they are the ultimates. Some people went as far as predicting the final moments of the series. Watching the three dragons ride into the sunset with all 3 characters riding each one. The first thought I had was ‘but they’re not fire they’re not Targaryens!’ And then I’m like wait Jon Snow probably is, and what if Tyrion is? What if Tyrion’s father was never Tywin?! Woah, mind blown. This got really deep and I might be crazy but ya never know! HUGE SIDE NOTE: Where was Ghost while they were killing Jon?! Ugh. So yeah, there’s my theory on Jon Snow. Cersei Now that she’s atoned her sins, like a quarter of them, she’s back at the castle with her Frankenstein. I feel like Cersei won’t make it past season 6, hello ain’t nobody got time for her! The sparrows will definitely find out about her and Jamie, and I think Jamie’s going to be the one to say it. Especially since his daughter admitted to knowing all along and still loving him. He’s def changed forever. I’m hoping Frankenstein will smash her head in so hard it explodes like Oberyn’s but at this – minor detail. Khaleesi There’s a blank space in my brain for Khalessi right now. I have no idea what to think of how we ended off with her. I can hope, that she’s been kidnapped, but she somehow gets the Dothraki tribe to believe in her and join her cause. It’s obvious that she can’t always have her people protecting her, her dragons aren’t going to win over the world for her, she’s going to have to put some work in herself, and that’s completely understandable. I think this will be her time to shine and show she has the power of a queen. Sisters Arya and Sansa, I really have no idea. Brothers Bring Bran back!! Or bring him back in the form of a dragon! Whatever it is I miss that kid. I really would like to see one of the siblings connect again, I don’t know if that’s in the cards or if it even makes sense to see them together but its season 6 and I want what I want. Jorah I really wanted to believe greyscale had the power of good somehow, like maybe you can’t burn in a fire or some sh*t. But obvi Shireen + fire = not good so that theory’s out the window. I can only assume Jorah will live the ‘yolo’ life while looking for his Queen since he’s on the clock. That’s about it. Brienne Besides being the most useless character of season 5 – relax, Stannis was basically already dead, she might play a big role next season. But I have no idea how that’s going to happen. And last but not least, because boy I did not forget about you – Gendry! He’s technically the King right now by being Robert Baratheon’s oldest son but he probably shouldn’t let anyone know that. I think he’s going to come back at some point. Maybe next seasons finale episode? I don’t know how they’ll insert him into the plot but I think he’ll be a crazy twist. Or maybe he’ll just be Arya’s soulmate. I think those are all the theories I have for now. We still have 12 months before next season so who knows what we can come up with. Let me know what you guys think! Follow @hollywd_heroine Follow us on Twitter join the discussion!
Guys can you believe this? Only a week left until the season 4 premiere of HBO’s Game of Thrones! I feel like just yesterday our countdown read ‘4 months to go’ and now the time has finally arrived. I think this is the most anticipated season of Game of Thrones. With last season’s Red Wedding episode they got way more attention than HBO ever dreamed of…and next Sunday will definitely make ratings history.
Here’s yet another trailer for the fourth season. Keep an eye on the Game of Thrones YouTube page in the coming week, they’ve been uploading special behind-the-scenes videos and interviews…I feel like we’re going to the Superbowl but with dragons.
Check out the trailer.
This Sunday was the season finale of HBO’s biggest hit- Game of Thrones. GOT has been the biggest asset for the popular network, that hasn’t seen this amount of success since The Sopranos. Sunday’s season finale raked in a whopping 5.4 million viewers, but with GOT being the most illegally downloaded TV show…that number is most likely higher.
What I’ve noticed with Game of Thrones season finales is that it’s usually an anti climactic ending in comparison to the jaw dropping events of episode 9. You’ll recall Tyrion’s Battle of the Blackwater…that all happened in episode 9 which didn’t leave any major battle scenes for the season finale. Not that GOT is big on battle scenes, there are usually 1 or 2 major fight scenes in a season, everything else revolves around the game of thrones, all the political bull poo.
Having said that, the writers still leave us with a whole lot to think about for the next year while we await season 4. Khaleesi is more than just the mother of dragons, she is a mother to her people…she has taken over cities and in doing so adopted all the slaves and has given them freedom. In return for their freedom they vow to honour and protect her..and why wouldn’t they…hello she has dragons!
I think most of us have wondered why we’re still watching Theon Greyjoy get tortured, because it’s clearly interrupting Khaleesi’s airtime. In the finale we finally figure out who Theon’s torturer is…but unfortunately never get to hear Theon sing ‘Dick in a Box’…how funny would that have been? Roose Bolton who is the man that killed Robb Stark and his mother at the Red Wedding has been appointed Warden of the North. He’s also the father of a bastard son- Ramsay Snow which is the guy torturing Theon. This story goes way back when Winterfell was captured by Theon…only to be recaptured by Ramsay. Theon’s scary sister learns about Theon’s kidnapping and sets sail with her men to bring back her brother. Cute!
Someone that won’t be bringing back her brother is Arya. I love her…especially now that she’s all Dexter with Lord Frey’s bannermen. Arya and the Hound make their way slowly through the forest until they stumble upon a group of soldiers eating by a fire. Arya jumps off the horse, sneaks up behind the one dude and legit slices him a part. By the time the other men realize, the Hound is already there and slices them all. The Hound isn’t happy, but you can tell he’s proud of Arya…especially now that they have free food and fire. We love you Arya. The saddest thing for A is that she’s been on this journey to find her mother, and now her mother’s dead and she has nowhere to go. It’ll be interesting to see where these two end up…either way she’s in good hands.
Jon Snow and Ygritte meet again…possibly for the last time? Jon takes a break with his horse, Ygritte rides up and is pointing her arrow at him. He tells her she must’ve known who he really was…he would always be a crow, but he admitted to loving her. Instead of letting him go, she shoots 3 arrows into Jon before he gets a chance to ride away on his horse. This is the one story I’m really mad about it…I was sad about Robb and Catelyn…but I’m mad about these 2. I thought it would be a happy ending for Y and J…I guess we’ll have to wait until next season.
Probably the best scene out of the finale was between Lord Tywin Lannister and his grandson King Joffrey. After hearing about the Red Wedding massacre, Joffrey decides he wants to bring Robb’s head to King’s Landing and serve it on a plate for Sansa at his wedding feast. Seriously, even Cersei thinks this kid has gone too far. ‘She is no longer yours to torment’ Tyrion says, and reminds Joffrey ‘Kings are dying like flies’. This is true, but obviously Joffrey doesn’t take threats very well. Joffrey babbles on that he is the King and he will punish Tyrion…the camera pans over to Tywin who has that same disgusted look on his face. His words resonate with everyone in the room…’No true king needs to declare himself king’…SILENCE! Boom! Even though Tywin ordered the murder of King Robb and his mother, he still gets double points for this insult. Joffrey is speechless…he doesn’t dare defy his grandfather? Oh but he does. He insults his grand daddy by saying his father Robert Baratheon is the real king for slaying the Targaryens and claiming the iron throne, all while Tywin was hiding at Casterly Rock. Camera flashes to everyone’s faces as they take in the insult…Tyrion is ecstatic that Joffrey has begun to really annoy the small council. Even the Eunuch isn’t pleased.
Tywin orders everyone to leave the room except for Tyrion. They discuss the Red Wedding massacre, Tyrion reminds him the Northerners will never forget, but Tywin isn’t worried. It’s obvious that Tywin is more powerful than King Joffrey, he’s the man calling the shots…and at this point he’ll do anything to protect the Lannister family. He tells Tyrion he’s appointed Roose Bolton as Warden of the North until Tyrion and Sansa have a son…he will be the ultimate heir of the North. That forces Tyrion to admit he isn’t going to ‘rape’ Sansa to have a kid, if she’s not ready she’s not ready. Tyrion tries to turn the tables around on his father and accuses him of never sacrificing anything for his family. Tywin admits the day Tyrion was born he wanted to kill him because he was half a man…but instead let him live because after all…he was still a Lannister. Ouch.
But Tyrion shouldn’t worry too much about Sansa’s virginity because his main mistress Shae refuses the Eunuch’s plea for her to leave King’s Landing. The Eunuch bribes Shae with a bag of diamonds..and I have to say the Eunuch has been on the good side lately, he begs her to leave King’s Landing in search of a better life…a place she can be wealthy and beautiful and men will beg for her hand in marriage. He tells her there’s nothing left for her in King’s Landing…she will always be a whore…and worse she might even die! Shae isn’t just a whore…she’s smart and strong (just like the other women in the show-excluding Sansa) she refuses the bag of diamonds and tells the Eunuch if Tyrion wants her to leave…he should tell her himself. You go girl!
Jamie enters King’s Landing but nobody recognizes him. It’s been a long journey for the golden haired Lannister…but he finally makes it back to King’s Landing with his right hand woman Brienne. He looks all dirty and smelly..and obviously without his right hand. We see him enter Cersei’s quarters and she notices his hand right away. No words are exchanged but you can tell Cersei is dissapointed. At least he has his other man parts girl! The reunion in the book was way more dramatic…maybe they will save the rest for next season.
And finally, our beloved Khaleesi ends off the episode as always with a beautiful dragon scene. Momma’s dragons have been MIA the entire season but we do get to see the whiny beasts before the end. Khaleesi is a liberator, she believes in letting the slaves be free…and if they choose to stand behind her then that’s her decision. She offers the army of slaves to be a part of her clan…not so they can protect her but so they can have a better life and protect themselves. She tells them they are free from this point on to do whatever they wish. The crowd starts chanting ‘mother’ in their language…Khaleesi walks down into the mosh of slaves…Ser Jorah is worried keeping a steady eye on his Queen. A few seconds go by and Khaleesi emerges from the crowd sitting on people’s shoulders as they lift her higher and chant ‘mother’. Yay!
This girl needs to build herself a boat and get her ass to Westeros!
What did you guys think of the finale? Expectations of season 4 …I want to hear them!
