On Sunday April 15th 2012 I had the chance to attend my first ever NAB Conference in Las Vegas. Myself and a classmate earned a sponsorships from our Film program to attend the conference for 3 days. Excited about this once in a lifetime opportunity, I agreed to write a short paper on why I should attend the conference.

Our flight flew out of Toronto at 5pm on Sunday and we landed in Las Vegas at 2:00am West Coast Time. It wasn’t my first time in Vegas, but it was my first time flying somewhere for ‘business’ and not just for a vacation. We were excited and nervous at what we would be experiencing in the morning.

Vegas was full of NAB attendees, everywhere you went you would see the NAB badges everywhere, even the cab drivers knew we were there for the NAB. So the conference itself was MASSIVE, and I wasn’t surprised at that. Teachers of mine that had gone in previous years warned me we would be walking for hours- and that we did.

I’m more into the post-production world, so seeing and experiencing the AVID booth was like a kid in a candy store. They had everything displayed there, and there were demos of their programs happening throughout the days. A few times I sat through the sessions at their AVID theatre, and it was amazing being around people that were into editing as much as I am.

The Acquisitions hall had all the cameras, tripods, lighting all the techie stuff. I’m not that into cameras, but seeing these beautiful machines was definitely a huge learning experience. I think we stayed at the Canon booth for over an hour, playing around with the cameras and testing each one out on their display thing. Basically, for all the big camera companies, they would have a stage where actors would act out a silent play, the lighting would change, and it would just keep repeating itself through the day. It was so you had something to compare the cameras to…and you don’t just aim the camera at a pointless object. The RED booth was definitely one of my favorites, we stood in line and watched the short film ‘LOOM’ that was in 3D. So cool.

I did really want to attend the sessions, it was a main reason why I wanted to attend the NAB. When I had heard Julie Plec from Vampire Diaries was going to be there, I knew I had to get into that session and hear what she had to say. Unfortunately, the passes we had did not let us into the sessions, and the security people at the front doors weren’t nice enough to let two students in- so sucks for me!

The ZACUTO Lounge definitely won best booth- they had a VIP Lounge..with a full bar…seriously what else could you ask for? Only in Vegas would they have an open bar at one of the booths.

I didn’t get to see a whole lot of Vegas, but I definitely did learn a lot- things about the camera world I never thought I’d learn. It was definitely one of the best experiences, I’m so lucky to have been given this chance to go- and although my legs are still killing me from all the walking-I would do it all over again.

Check out some of these pics I took while I was there.

Oh Lawwd! Me And My Man!

If you don’t know that me and Rob Kardashian are legitimately meant to be with one another…then I’ll use this post to remind you. I won’t even post the pictures I’ve made with me and him together…I opted to save myself the embarrassment on that one.

This New Years Eve my cousin…who is now my sworn enemy (lol)…was in Las Vegas and ended up at his club appearance at Tryst. Now I found this out literally on NYE…and my friends can contest to the fact that I was going crazy hearing the news…and if there was a flight to Vegas out of Pearson in the next hour…I would’ve been on it. Thankfully, I didn’t max out the credit card…and didn’t end up in Vegas.

But, I was lucky enough to get these pictures courtesy of my ‘cuz…and I’m forever grateful! No really, I am. Anyways, check the pics out…I just had to post the last one.

Okay okay…I saved the best for last! LOL

RHOBH: Vegas Baby Vegas!

This week on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Lisa’s daughter Pandora has her bachelorette party in Vegas…and Adrienne decides to take the rest of the women who weren’t invited…to Vegas anyways. Adrienne’s family owns the Palms resort…so obviously she has all the hook ups. Lisa has an old friend that owns Planet Hollywood so her and her daughter’s friends got to stay there, while Adrienne was a little upset at Lisa because she didn’t choose her family’s hotel for Pandora’s party.

Anyways, the ladies minus Kyle head to Vegas…Taylor awkwardly stays with Lisa…Kim is absent once again- having some lame excuse that she was moving and hurt her neck…seriously woman how long does it take to move!?…they all go to Chippendale’s and Lisa wins the award for best lapdance.  Adrienne and the ladies have their night out, which doesn’t look as fun…they spend it mostly in the hotel…which was probably Adrienne’s idea of plugging the Palm’s, knowing Lisa would be promoting Planet H. Brandi gets awkward as she grinds up on Camille…who finds it weird at first…but then blows it off because heck she loves to dance!

Kyle stays back in LA because she has a photo shoot for her book (it’s easy these days to land your own book deal)…and plans for her big ‘white themed’ party that they’ll be showing next week. While Kyle is shopping with her mother-in-law…she runs into her sister Kim. They start talking, Kim gets emotional when she opens up about her kids not liking her boyfriend. Kyle is worried about her because she’s lost a ton of weight, either way it’s a sad situation…and I’m sure it’s really hard on Kim.

Not much else happened, except for Dana showing off the crazy amounts of money she has…from doing nobody knows what…and proves to us that spending $1million on a diamond lollipop holder is worth every thousand.

The previews for next week look ah-mazing!

MTV’s The Rivals: Update

Last night was another amazing episode of MTV’s The Challenge:Rivals. Unfortunately, my favourite rookie team (Jonne and Jasmine) were booted off after being voted into the jungle with Laurel and Cara.

The best moment was when the entire cast decided to root for the rookies Jasmine and Jonne instead of the vets Laurel and Cara. When the jungle game was announced ‘blast off’ it was obvious that Laurel and Cara would obviously take it.

Here’s a look at whose left.

Next week: The cast gets a surprise text that inevitably sends them 3000 miles away to Argentina. It’s only getting better! Stay tuned.

Side Note: Jenn would totally knockout CaraMaria anyday!

MTV’s The Challenge:Rivals

Last night was another episode of MTV’s The Challenge:Rivals. The cast got a chance to let loose, go out to a club, where unfortunately CT was getting his flirt on with Mandy and Laurel. Both girls, including every female viewer has fallen in love with CT this season. The two girls are ignoring the fact that CT is playing them both in the game, but they don’t really care! Clearly, Laurel just wants to taste CT’s gum.

Wes is still weird, everything about him is weird, but one thing is true he’s carrying Kenny throughout this entire season. Once again, Kenny and Wes were at the bottom of the challenge facing elimination. The rest voted in Brandon and Ty…and obviously Wes and Kenny won (they never lose)

Sorry to see Brandon leave…but I’ve never liked Ty (Real World:DC). Stay tuned for next week!

Real World: Las Vegas

This week’s episode of the Real World: Las Vegas had a jam-packed amount of tear-jerking moments. We finally find out what happened to Nany’s father, and we get to see Mike Mike spend a few days with his biological mother.

On the other hand, crazy psycho Adam returns to Las Vegas…not The Hard Rock Hotel (since he got kicked out)…and embarasses himself once again (no surprise)

So we find out Nany’s father whom she’s never met, and has been wanting to find him since she was 14…is dead. We find out through a private investigator that her father had passed away in 2002…but to Nany’s surprise she had a younger sister and brother who she never knew about. It was a cute episode, a little boring but I’m proud to say Nany has come a long… long way since the first episode aired. Speaking of Nany’s problems…Adam returns to Vegas to spend some time with Nany (who is apparently his ‘girlfriend’ according to him). They hook up…go out the next night and what a surprise Adam is completely wasted…makes a fool out of himself…but didn’t break anything/get thrown out of the club so to him he was only tipsy.

This guy is crazy…finally the second last episode of the Real World: Las Vegas Nany realizes it…and she can’t wait for Adam to get out of Vegas and her life. (yay)

MikeMike spends some quality time with his mother who is a recovering addict/battling cancer or is in remission (not too sure). Anyways, MikeMike realizes he’s lucky to have his mom, although she’s put him through a lot, his situation could be worse (like Nany’s).

Dustin loves Heather. And hopefully, next episode RoyLee and Naomi finally tie the knot! (hopefully)

Real World: Goes to Cancun!!

This week’s episode of The Real World was highly anticipated, by myself, and twitter followers, but I was sort of dissapointed with the episode. I think they’re really trying to find juicy drama to show, and all they’re finding is Dustin gay porn, and Mike Mike hating on Dustin. Is it just me or are these 2 really boring? Like I said, I love Mike Mike but when he starts hating on Dustin, and calling him out for everything it’s really annoying. First of all, when Mike mentioned that Dustin probably shouldn’t go to the Elementary School because of his past, it was really uncalled for. He knew how mad Dustin was going to get, not only mad but hurt as well. He’s not a monster, he did something in his past, it doesn’t make him a pedophile, or make him a danger to the kids.

It just didn’t make sense, and I wasn’t impressed by Mike Mike. Especially when, he tried to defend himself when the house got mad at him. He just had to admit he was wrong in this case, and no matter how much he hates Dustin, there’s no point in calling him out on everything he does. I think, in a way Mike Mike is jealous of Dustin, maybe because he thinks Dustin shouldn’t deserve all the attention he’s still getting from Heather, or from whoever. Maybe, he’s just jealous Dustin is hotter than him? Who knows.

It was cool to see the Real World Cancun Suite, I remember watching that season. It was an awesome season, and they were so so lucky to have stayed in such an amazing and beautiful suite. Not to mention, the views their suite had. Stunning!

Anyways, back to this season, I expected more drama from everyone, especially Naomi and RoyLee! They need to get together already. Nany needs to find her father, hopefully he doesn’t ignore her (sad) and as for Cookie I really really don’t know where she came from, I thought she would bring more drama, but no she really hasn’t. I kind of wish Adam never left. So my next question is…whens The Challenge start?
