The Challenge: Free Agents Week 4

A quick review of last night’s episode of The Challenge: Free Agents. After a quick game of ‘Bounce Up’ which basically looked like a bunch of bobble heads playing soccer, the winning team (Johnny Bananas) had to choose who they wanted to vote in for eliminations.

The house chose:
LaToya and Brandon

LaToya was all like “Aright then let’s kick it” because at this point she’s uber confident that she can come back from an elimination round.

Brandon on the other hand, is the worst Challenge player ever. He literally hasn’t won anything, I don’t even know why he keeps coming back on the show. At this point, his replacement ‘Swift’ who I’m sure people get him mixed up with is doing a whole lot better. And by a whole lot I really mean hanging by threads.

During the vote session Aneesa turns up her sass when she overhears Laurel telling everyone to vote for her. Aneesa takes the time to educate Laurel on the theme of this seasons Challenge, which is ‘Free Agents’ so everyone is free to vote for whomever they please. TJ breaks up the verbal dispute- I’ve actually never seen TJ get that mad on the show ever. He shuts those two girls up within miliseconds. Editing as always, was stellar.ChallengeToya2

I just want to add here that LaToya is officially my favourite Rookie ever. Not only is she feisty and delivers a mean come back…she does it with style and grace. And that people, is what you call star quality.

In the elimination round, Zach pulled up the death card and Brandon instantly new he was a goner. Cara Marie pulled the unlucky card for the second week in a row. Literally, this looked like the easiest eliminatoin round for both contestants. Zach and Cara Marie both won if you didn’t guess that already.

The Challenge: FREE AGENTS (Episode 1)

Ooh ooh! The new season of MTV’s The Challenge premiered last night and O-M-G it was absolutely spine tingling. If you’re not a fan of the popular MTV series (it’s currently in its 25th season) it’s basically a bunch of Real World people mixed with some randoms. Historically, The Challenge was a blend of two shows on MTV, The Real World and Road Rules. Now they usually take people from all seasons of The Real World, and sometimes throw in some randoms they find on the street. Anyways, it’s basically survivor but they live in a gigantic mansion, Jeff Probst isn’t the host, and they’re all 21-35 year old adults or children, depending on the episode.

So lets get right into this new season. It’s called ‘Free Agents’ because all the contestants are fighting for themselves. Unlike past seasons where contestants are either paired up with their ‘rivals’, ‘exes’ or just put into teams based on their real world season, this one forces the contestants to face each battle on their own. There’s a catch, since they are ‘free agents’ that technically means they can be thrown around anywhere (to any team), so before each challenge, TJ announces what type of challenge they’ll be doing and with whom. It could be a solo mission, an entire team, or just with another female/male.

This week, contestants were separated into two teams (Red vs. Black). It was sort of like a relay race, certain sections of the challenge were given to certain contestants, some players had to run up 42 flights of stairs being chained to one another. The others were waiting at the top of the highest building in Uruguay to get the key from their stair master teammates and solve a puzzle. Once the puzzle was solved, the left over teammates had to walk across a giant beam hanging in mid air. Sounds exhausting right?

I already noticed the editing in this first episode was different. I’ve seen a lot of these seasons and this first episode is definitely one that stands out in terms of production value. I loved that slow motion camera they had on the contestants walking across the beam. Amazing. Also, how cool was that lit up Challenge sign at the pit or whatever it’s called this season.TheChallenge

To say this first challenge was uneventful is completely underrated. Blood and sweat weren’t the only things flying around, Swift (Real World: St Thomas) had the great idea of literally flying through the air to save his teammates who were being trapped in the stairwell. He jumps over Johnny or someone and gets the key out from under the carnage. It was amazing. LaToya (Real World: St. Thomas) felt sick after her stair climb, apparently she hit her head and was rushed to the emergency room while everyone commented on how ‘weak’ she was. Oh boy, how quickly they should’ve regretted saying that one.

Meanwhile, the fate of her teams victory lied in Jess’ sturdy legs and when she ran over that log and rung that bell it was like a light went off inside of her and every single bad childhood memory she had playing sports was wiped away clean because she won for her team! She did it! Dreams really do come true!

After the black team wins the challenge, the team is forced to vote in two players from the red team. They choose to vote in Chet (Real World:Brooklyn) and LaToya. It wasn’t over yet, because everyone’s names who had at least 1 vote against them were still in the running to be sent into eliminations. At the pit, the contestants with votes against have to lift a card and if there’s a skull on it that means they have to go into eliminations. This week, the guy and girl who saw the skulls were: Jemmye (Real World: Back to New Orleans) and Frank (Real World: San Diego)

The elimination game was a simple five rounds of put the ball into the hole. You were either offense or defense…you get the point. Honestly, the guys match up was so anti climatic. After 3 rounds, Chet cut his chin wide open. It was bleeding pretty bad but the medics taped him up and TJ asked him if he wanted to continue and get stitched up later or just forfeit. I really didn’t see it coming, but apparently Chet makes money from his gorgina face and chose to forfeit, he admitted that his face and body were worth more than the idea of a large sum of untaxed money. Is it untaxed though?

The girls on the other hand, went HAM. H. A. M…LaToya definitely put up a fight. I think everyone was expecting her to get blown over by Jemmye, but that first round she literally did a circle around Jemmye and put the ball in the bin. The girls ended up fighting until the last round, but LaToya pulled through and she tossed Jemmye out of the ring ending the match. Jemmye’s a good player though and she gave Toya a huge hug and congratulated her on her well deserved victory. See, this is what all women should aspire to!

In the end, Nany reminds us that last season Jemmye was in the finals and this season she’s going home first. That can only mean this challenge is the biggest and baddest season yet! Stay tuned!

Real World 29: San Fran!

Real World has been renewed by MTV for the 29th season….are we surprised? Really though what would we do without our Real World/The Challenge fix? Resort to watching Big Brother?…no it doesn’t work like that.

Even if we are cray cray about The Real World fam…doesn’t mean everyone else is. Ratings in the last few seasons have been down…and some people are speculating this next season could be a make or break season. Here’s to hoping they change a few things in the house…spice it up a little…it’s been using the same format since it’s debut in 1992.

No word who will be in the cast…all we know is it’s going to be in San Francisco…and I’m excited about that. Last season was really lame, Portland…really though? Who cares about Portland?

The good news is The Challenge has a 50% higher rating than Real World…so we can definitely expect Bunim Murray to keep coming back with more seasons. Yay!

Here’s  a look back on some of the past Real World Seasons.

RIVALS II: The Couples Quiz

Still recovering from last week’s bizarre elimination round, the roomies have all banded together in their quest to bring down Theresa. When did this girl become Pucket’s most hated?

By innocently throwing away her vote for LeRoy, Theresa allowed Diem to effortlessly stir the pot, and when Diem’s final vote sent Leroy into eliminations, Theresa decides she can no longer trust ANYONE in the house. Girl, this isn’t a game of friendship, people are ready to attack and the fact that she was so surprised by Diem’s move, proves how little she knows about the challenge.

Moving on!…It’s a girl elimination week, which means the drama meters were boiling, especially because we’re halfway to the final challenge. TJ has a sneaky deaky challenge lined up, one that tests how well the rival teams know each other. One team member is tied up to a rope, suspended over the water ( as usual) and the other teammate has to answer questions, with the same answers their partner gave. Emily and Paula obviously killed the game like they always do, winning first place and winning immunity from eliminations.

Jemmye and Camilla were the first team to go down, so they automatically get sent to eliminations.  This game also added fire to the flame, as some questions asked team members who they thought was the fakest in the house? Or who needed the most attention in the house? The worst part was, if you answered wrong, you would’ve proven to the entire house what you thought of that person, then TJ named who your partner really chose …so now two people hate you in the house! It happened to Jemmye and Jonna, TJ asks Nany who Jonna thinks is fake in the house…and Jonna ends up saying  Jemmye. It was a big surprise for Jemmye, while she’s sitting on the side line, she flashes that ghetto girl grin like s**** about to go down NOLA style!

The guys have a laugh out of it, TJ asks CT which girl in the house is the trashiest…CT opts to not say anyone’s name and basically sends Wes into the waters. It was a very smart move on CT’s part.

Right away, Theresa is putting in work trying to get the rookie guys on her side. She asks them to vote in Diem and Aneesa, Jordan tells her that he has her back and they’re all good. After that, Jordan and Marlon are discussing their decision, when Johnny B overhears and decides to give them some words of advice. Obviously, the smartest choice would be to vote Theresa in because nobody wants her there. When TJ arrives, Jordan admits he promised Theresa one thing, but he’s going back on his word and voting for her anyways. Whatt’ya gonna do Theresa! This one’s for the books. Jasmine stands up before her name is even called…all like she’s ready for the battle, nothing can stop her, she always has the funniest walk when she knows she’s going into eliminations. TJ is quick to notice it and even asks her why she takes on a different attitude when she knows she could be going home. It’s so funny.

This elimination looked like fun, the two teams had to run on treadmills while throwing a ball across to their teammate, and then they had to dump the ball into a bin.  Looks easy but when you’re running your ass becomes tricky. Oh and there’s a big muddy hole in the ground so if you fly off the treadmill…it’ll break the fall.

They seem to edit the eliminations the same, at first they make you think one team has it in the bag and then magically the other team wins. Jasmine and Theresa started off good, but when Jasmine takes a tumble…the momentum stops. Jemmye and Camilla end up winning…which is a good thing because we are all Team NOLA. But jasmine, you will be missed.

In the end, Jordan admits whatever feelings he has for Jonna are irrelevant because he’s trying to the win the big money. On the other side of the house, Nany is talking about Jonna and how she always needs a guy’s attention in her life, which sounds about right. Nany admits the reason her and Jonna are rivals are because of Jonna’s ex…Zach. There is a whole lot of drama behind these partners that the show doesn’t even show!

Thought you guys would like this CLICK on CT! 🙂

mtv_logoFinally we have some news about the new season of MTV’s The Challenge. It’s going to be a Rivals II…cast members are paired with their rivals (same sex- most often it’s an argument that’s happened in the show but sometimes fights break out on various social media outlets which deem them ‘rivals’) I was expecting a Vet VS Rookie match up…just because we haven’t seen it in a while and now that we have so many new cast members it would be entertaining to see how the Vets do against the rookies.

We don’t have the official teams yet, and the cast list isn’t MTV official but here is a list of the speculated names. It was pretty obvious from Twitter who was going to be on the show, a bunch of them returned to their accounts on the same day…clearly they had been away shooting.

There are unofficial posts online speculating who will be paired up with who, and if you’re a fan of the show you probably have an idea of the rival teams. Anyways, for now check out the list below and decide for yourself:

Battle of the Exes: Useless Piece of S@$!

Last nights episode of Battle of the Exes began with the elimination round from last week. JD and Devyn (Team Brooklyn) against the remainder of the Fresh Meat team Camila and Big Easy.

It was a strategy elimination, a basic game of memory but the catch was the girls were attached to a line that move them up and down a board that the game was on. The guys job was to move the line up and down, but the further they moved the girls up, the lower they went…submerging themselves into a dunk tank! The longer they could hold their breath underwater the longer their teammate had time to complete the memory game. It looked easy, but the guys were hanging upside down, and breathing like that underwater is near impossible. And obviously, anything for Easy is impossible.

Anyways, Team Brooklyn seems like they’re never going to be beat. JD was confident in himself and his eyebrows that he could hold his breath the longest. But he never really got the chance to shine because as usual Big Easy DQ’ed his team…because he didn’t feel like completing the challenge. Him and Camila were actually winning when Easy decided to end the match. I always felt bad for Easy, but he’s messed up so many times on these challenges. He costs other people the game just because he doesn’t feel like doing the mission, and he physically can’t. I don’t get why he keeps coming back if he’s just going to DQ all the time. Camila obviously felt the same, she freaks out calling him every name in the book. Everyone else just stood there in shock, she was PISSED and asked if she could continue the challenge without him. Obviously that would be impossible because someone had to be on the other end to hold her weight down.

So that’s the end of Team Fresh Meat…Big Easy blaming their failure on the fact that they weren’t in a Real World season, none of them knew each other …and that was the reason they lost. I don’t think it made sense at all to bring in the fresh meat team…the point of this Challenge was that everyone was in a Real World house. Whether that was a disadvantage or advantage is irrelevant.

Moving on, the challenge for this episode was one of my faves. A simple trivia game…but everyone was sitting on a chair…above the water. If you answer the question wrong….TJ pulls a lever that sends you flying! There were barely any questions answered correctly…either they’re all idiots or being up that high impairs your intelligence.

Team San Diego won power team thanks to Frank. Unfortunately, Team NOLA ended up in the bottom. Sucks for Preston getting the sports question! Right away Jemmye said she wasn’t going into elimination…it was going to be McKenzie and Preston. Definitely not a duo that will can do serious damage.

San Diego voted in Brooklyn again…this time it was Sara and Chet. The game would be stamina (the one with the sliding balls).

McKenzie was literally walking during the heats. Preston on the other hand completely killed it, but it wasn’t enough to beat out Brooklyn. Afterwards, Knight admitted he should’ve gone into the elimination…because a team with only 2 players is not a good look if they want to make it to the finals. They probably won’t…my predictions Team Cancun and Team San Diego. They are obviously the strongest out of their alliance…and I’m not underestimating Team Vegas who turned their back on the alliance.

Battle of the Seasons: Recap

Once this week’s episode of Battle of the Seasons it’s obvious that there’s no more room for the Vets…and that the Rookies have officially taken over. Usually what happens in these challenges is individuals/teams get categorized as a veteran or a rookie…if you’re a rookie and new to the game you’re most likely the first team to be eliminated because the veterans end up controlling the outcome.

This time around, there are way more Rookie teams than Veterans…most of the cast have never been on the challenges…and it’s surprising that there’s barely any vets on the show. It is a good thing, it makes for better TV, because frankly I think everyone was getting sick of Kenny Santucci,Johnny Bananas and Paula. Now that there’s new blood, they are out for the Vets…and unfortunately for Veteran Team Austin…they’re the first team to go. I thought Team Austin would end up being in the final challenge, they had Wes and he’s an idiot but great at these challenges. Since he was eliminated last week, it was only a matter of time before Danny and Melinda were sent back into elimination…where they ended up being sent home.

This week’s challenge was an oil wrestle between teams…Girl vs Girl/Guy vs Guy sort of thing. Each time a team won they would add a piece to this star thing that had to be completed. The power teams (Cancun/San Diego) decided they would throw their matches, and ultimately win the ones they chose…so that their stars would be completed first…and none of them would have a chance at being last. San Diego ended up taking first place, since Cancun had power team last week. It was basically down to St.Thomas and Austin (Melinda vs Laura). Whoever lost would be in the bottom and send them into the elimination round. Laura came out of the woodwork and won by pulling Melinda’s thumb over the red line- disqualifying Team Austin…and making Marie the happiest woman ever.

Now San Diego had a huge decision to make, send in the rookies (St.Thomas) because they hate Trey…or send in basically the only veteran team (Fresh Meat). Las Vegas is actually lucky because they would be considered veterans…if it wasn’t for their team being split into the old Las Vegas and the new Las Vegas seasons. Since Dustin and Nany make up half the team, they get away with being in the “rookie safezone”. Franky has literally become the Nazi Hunter against veterans….and has it out for Fresh Meat. They try talking to St.Thomas and try to get them on their side, for some reason Trey doesn’t trust Zach and Frank…and he refuses to kiss a**.

It wasn’t a surprise that in the end San Diego ended up choosing Fresh Meat to go into the eliminations with Team Austin. The only problem was, none of the Fresh Meat crew could decide on who was going into battle. Nobody felt like it was their turn to go in, Big Easy especially since he beat out Wes last week. San Diego had to choose the two team members, Camila and Big Easy were chosen…and they came back successful. The final elimination challenge was based on ‘endurance’…it seems like Big Easy’s size has actually benefited him these last two weeks.

Not much ‘drama’ ensued which is a real surprise since these shows tend to bring out the worst in people. Trey cried a little, Knight is still heart broken over cheating on Jemmye- he would marry her in a heart beat…and Zach (San Diego) and Jonna (Cancun) can’t keep their hands off each other. Also, I really love how my favourite team (NOLA) is staying under the radar…Jemmye is clearly on her best behaviour which is working out for them since they haven’t even been close to being sent into eliminations.

REAL WORLD: Did Blow Now You Gotta Go!

The second to last episode of The Real World: St Thomas aired last night on MTV and it was a crazzzy one! Probably the craziest thus far, and that’s not saying much because really not much has happened this season. The best part of it all, Marie and Toya make the best out of every situation, and they always know how to get people laughing. Watching them feels like I’m watching Deena and Snooki in their meatballs days- and I love it. Whoever says San Diego did better than St.Thomas?…um you’re crazy because literally nothing happened in Diego other than Frank meeting the hottest gay guy ever.

Anyways, this week’s episode was cray because Trey’s ‘girlfriend’ from back home who he also ended up getting pregnant decides to visit the Virgin Islands, well not really Trey just misses her and decides to pay for her flight and hotel. This is all just really weird and messed up since Trey has been getting it in with roomie Laura, they have strong feelings for each other which Trey doesn’t deny, but at the same time he’s constantly on the phone with Chelsea. When Trey admits to Laura that he invited Chelsea, she’s obviously upset but she knows it’s Trey’s way of basically choosing Chelsea over her. But apparently not because rumour has it they’re dating right now. Chelsea flies in, Trey actually puts her in a hotel because he doesn’t want to make things even more awkward at the house, Toya and Marie decide to roam the island, and the producers ask for a random drug test from all the roomies.

Apparently, there is a strict drug policy in the Real World houses, no roomie can be under the influence of narcotics…and none of the roomies had a problem with submitting to a test, everyone other than Brandon (the ex drugster). He’s been clean since he arrived in the Virgin Islands…or so we thought. In the beginning of the season Brandon seemed like a cray, but I’ve grown to love him and his determination to get clean and fix himself up proves he has a problem and wants to change. Sometimes that doesn’t always work out best in front of the cameras, we witnessed Joey from Real World:Hollywood struggle with drug addiction on camera. Joey was found dead from a drug overdose in August. 😦

Results came back from the drug test, Brandon’s results came back positive for cocaine, he immediately claimed he hadn’t touched it since he arrived in St.Thomas, it must’ve been left over from when he was in Boston. The producers said they would take it to a lab to be further tested. While waiting for the lab results, Brandon was a hot mess. Marie confronted him and told him it’s impossible for a drug to stay in your system for over 30 days…that just doesn’t happen. Brandon defended himself and said it was just a fluke. The next day, he gets into the confessional and admits that he did do a line the night before the drug test. It wasn’t a lot but some girl had given it to him, and he didn’t refuse. Later, the producers sit down with Brandon, obviously they’ve seen his confession tape, and they have the results back from the lab. Although the trace of cocaine was very small, rules are rules and the producers told Brandon he had a day left…and then he had to leave. In the end, Brandon took it like a man, he knew he messed up and he had to pay the consequences. At least he got to stay for majority of their time in St.Thomas, I think there was a few more weeks until they all had to pack up.

Before Brandon leaves for good, Trey brings Chelsea over to the house where the ‘meet’ took place. Funniest scene ever, Toya and Marie grabbing their popcorn so they can watch the s*** show that was supposed to go down between Laura and Chelsea. Unfortunately, nothing happened, the two girls actually talked it out and had no hate for one another. Marie on the other hand walked in on their conversation and blurted how friggin’ awkward this was! She’s hilarious.

Next week is the season finale which is a good thing because I can’t wait until the premiere of The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons premiering September 19th on MTV.

MTV’S The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons CONFIRMED

It’s baaaaaaaaaaack, and it’s official- the new season of MTV’s The Challenge will be the Battle of the Seasons. There’s 4 cast members from a bunch of different Real World seasons- and it’s going to be a CRAZY time!If you watch the Real World episodes, you know the strangers  bring a lot of their drama onto The Challenge, and it usually becomes crazier than The Real World seasons. I’m rooting for one of my favourite seasons- NOLA, Jemm and Knight have some unfinished drama and I’m sure it’s going to blow up on camera. Also Cancun was an amazing season and I hope they end up getting far. I think Danny and his season will definitely be in the top 3 teams- Danny and Melinda were married, they’ve been doing these shows for a long time and will probably have most of the experience.

I can’t wait- the promos literally made my heart skip, I can’t imagine what kind of drama the cast members get themselves into while in beautiful Bodrum, Turkey. UM, also Zach (RW:San Diego) and Jonna (RW:Cancun) making out?!? They make a hot couple though.

Battle of the Seasons premieres on MTV September 19th at 10Pm.

Check out the exclusive TRAILER.

REAL WORLD: St.Thomas!

It’s finally here, the premiere of The Real World:St Thomas!  Like we predicted, the next 3 months will be taking place on the beautiful Virgin Islands, and hopefully it’s going to be an amazing time.

So I have to say, the cast doesn’t look that exciting from the promos, then again we won’t be sure whose the craziest until the season unfolds, but it’s going to be interesting to see how they do on an island! Last time The Real World was at a summer destination like this was in Cancun, and obviously it was insane! I can’t imagine St.Thomas will have the same drunken insanity, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Real World:St Thomas premieres tomorrow night on MTV at 10pm/et.

Check out the trailer below!
