Vampire Diaries Season Premiere

O-M-G I have been waiting patiently for the Vampire Diaries season premiere…and it was kind of a let down. I think I just expected to see Elena jump off and be this amazingly poised Vampire- but she wasn’t. Even if it wasn’t what I expected, VD is still an amazing show, and Julie Plec is God.

So Elena isn’t a vampire just yet, the episode resumes from where last season’s finale finished  off. Elena has a day to feed so her vampire transition can be completed. Stefan and Bonnie think magic might turn Elena back into a human, so they wait until Bonnie finds the right spell. Unfortunately, for the vampires there’s a new gang in Mystic Falls and they’re all appropriately suited to hunt vamps. Stefan,Elena and Rebecca are captured and put into vampire prison.

Caroline and fake Tyler almost hook up, Klaus is really in Tyler’s body but nobody knows until he starts calling Caroline ‘love’…then Caroline realizes she was so close to having sex with Klaus! Which might not have been a bad thing. I feel like there has to be something that happens between Caroline and Klaus. They wouldn’t of brought his character this far so that he could just leave Mystic Falls. I would love a Caroline and Klaus storyline, only because she hates him so much!

The episode felt extremely fast, there were a lot of questions being asked, and mostly just self-discovery from Elena. She starts tripping out when her vampire senses start kicking in. While she’s locked up in the cell beside Stefan, and across from Rebecca, Stefan can hear her breathing and it doesn’t sound normal. She needs to feed or she will die.

Bonnie and Jeremy go at the spell, but Bonnie enters into a really dark magical place, she sees Elena sitting on the prison floor and goes to grab her. Just then Bonnie’s gram shows up and pulls Elena back down onto the floor. Her grams warns her that the magic is too dark, and that the forces will punish her for messing around with the natural order of things. As per usual ,Bonnie’s nose starts bleeding, Jeremy is freaking out as if he’s never seen this before…and Bonnie wakes up- the spell didn’t work. She can’t bring Elena back.

As Elena is slowly dying, Stefan and Rebecca come up with a plan to kill one of the guards. When the guard steps closer to Rebecca’s cell she scares him and he literally jumps back into Stefan’s arms, Stefan kills him and the guard drops to the floor…a pool of blood surrounding him. Elena tries to grab for him but she’s a little too far…after 5 minutes (real time) she finally reaches the blood with the tips of her fingers- and that’s enough to complete her transition.

Klaus/Tyler force Bonnie into returning Klaus into his real body. She tells him she can’t do it, the magic is too strong, and she literally almost just died. Klaus threatens to rip Tyler’s heart out, Bonnie has no choice. In the midst of the magic, her grams shows up again, this time to basically yell at Bonnie for doing another spell, the dark forces are punishing Bonnie by destroying grams. She’s dead.

Damon and Matt show up at the vampire hunter estate- Damon almost kills Matt. Before Elena got locked up, Damon had a deep conversation with Elena about his feelings, and the fact that he did love her, but he wanted Stefan to have her. And then he erases her memory of the entire convo. In the end, Elena is officially a vampire, she goes up to Damon and tells him she remembers everything. It doesn’t matter if you’ve erased all of her memory, if she turns into a vampire- she remembers everything. He tells her he would’ve never saved Matt, he would’ve saved her first- Elena is upset that Matt would’ve been killed, but she realizes how much Damon loves her- and how selfish he can be for her safety. Obviously, she’s got some soul searching to do. Well, not really since she doesn’t have a soul anymore.

Stefan and Elena enjoy a beautiful sunrise as vampires, for the first time. It was the cutest scene ever, Stefan pulls out a daylight ring Bonnie had made for her a few days ago. Klaus is back to normal, Rebecca is pissed off at him for not saving her from the vampire hunters. They are the most dysfunctional family ever, it seems like Rebecca will no longer have her brother’s back…mainly because he snaps her neck and leaves her on the floor.

Ouch.

PLL: All The Funny Faces

I’ve been catching up with Pretty Little Liars since everyone’s telling me to watch it. I’ve started on the 1st season and almost at the season finale. I’ve seen some of the episodes but I never actually sat down and watched them in order. It is the funniest show ever, the intensity of the girls as they try and solve the mystery that is ‘A’ makes it a comedy rather than a teen-drama.

Obviously, the show doesn’t compare to some other TV favourite’s like Vampire Diaries or the magical Game of Thrones, but PLL definitely leaves audience’s hanging after the 42 minute mark. First off, Emily has the greatest face ever, and I’m sure casting director’s for scary movies everywhere are mad at themselves that they’ve never casted her in horror flicks. One look at Emily’s face, and you can tell how the scene is going to be played out, her expression always looks like a cross between scared and an urgent need to use the bathroom. I love it.

Next, is Spencer who is clearly the only smart one out of the group. It seems every time there is a puzzle to be solved, Spencer’s the first one at it, and she usually comes out victorious. If there’s a question to be answered among the girls, the camera literally pans over to Spencer’s face and all wait for her to go ahead and give the answer. It’s the funniest thing ever. At the end of Season 1, she finds herself in a pickle, she is being accused of killing best friend Allision aka ‘A’. Also, she’s slowly and awkwardly falling in love with creepy boy Toby.

Hannah used to be the fat girl, although in the flashbacks she doesn’t even look fat, but hey TV magic can only go so far.

Aria is the little naiive one that knows this huge secret about her dad having an affair with one of his students. Ironically, Aria starts a relationship with her hot english teacher Ezra.

*The hottie award goes to A’s older brother- Jason, who casually returns to Rosewood for his sister’s funeral. He apparently makes a few more guest appearances, and in Season 2 or 3 they change actors for his role! How disappointing.*

*The not hottie award goes to Caleb aka Pocahontas, I get he’s supposed to be the ‘bad boy’ but his weird haircut screams awkward and creepy…not so much bad boy and sexy.*

I think that pretty much sums up my thoughts on Pretty Little Liars, at least for Season 1. I’m excited to find out who ‘A’  is but I kinda figured we will never know whose behind all this scheming. Just like we never find out who Gossip Girl is!

TVDFUTUREINTERNS EPISODE 2!!

We’ve thought long and hard about what to do next for our Twitter campaign #TVDFutureInterns. We started out hoping The Vampire Diaries Showrunner- Julie Plec would notice us- love us, and possibly ask us to come and intern for her next season.

We made the first video (watch here), it was loved by everyone- even Julie who ended up watching it only 12 hours after we posted it on YouTube!!

Then, we made a website, which you can go to right here and it has all our professional information on it (resumes, reels). We put up the website hoping we would be taken a little bit more seriously…but so far nada!

A few days ago, we had the genius idea of making another great video, this one full of re-enactments and dream sequences that will hopefully leave Julie rolling on the floor laughing.

So, here it is the SECOND episode of our highly anticipated #TVDFutureInterns campaign- trust me this one is way funnier! Enjoy! And Follow us on Twitter @TheTashaIC and @sparksvicky and join us in our Twitter Campaign!!

MY NAB EXPERIENCE

On Sunday April 15th 2012 I had the chance to attend my first ever NAB Conference in Las Vegas. Myself and a classmate earned a sponsorships from our Film program to attend the conference for 3 days. Excited about this once in a lifetime opportunity, I agreed to write a short paper on why I should attend the conference.

Our flight flew out of Toronto at 5pm on Sunday and we landed in Las Vegas at 2:00am West Coast Time. It wasn’t my first time in Vegas, but it was my first time flying somewhere for ‘business’ and not just for a vacation. We were excited and nervous at what we would be experiencing in the morning.

Vegas was full of NAB attendees, everywhere you went you would see the NAB badges everywhere, even the cab drivers knew we were there for the NAB. So the conference itself was MASSIVE, and I wasn’t surprised at that. Teachers of mine that had gone in previous years warned me we would be walking for hours- and that we did.

I’m more into the post-production world, so seeing and experiencing the AVID booth was like a kid in a candy store. They had everything displayed there, and there were demos of their programs happening throughout the days. A few times I sat through the sessions at their AVID theatre, and it was amazing being around people that were into editing as much as I am.

The Acquisitions hall had all the cameras, tripods, lighting all the techie stuff. I’m not that into cameras, but seeing these beautiful machines was definitely a huge learning experience. I think we stayed at the Canon booth for over an hour, playing around with the cameras and testing each one out on their display thing. Basically, for all the big camera companies, they would have a stage where actors would act out a silent play, the lighting would change, and it would just keep repeating itself through the day. It was so you had something to compare the cameras to…and you don’t just aim the camera at a pointless object. The RED booth was definitely one of my favorites, we stood in line and watched the short film ‘LOOM’ that was in 3D. So cool.

I did really want to attend the sessions, it was a main reason why I wanted to attend the NAB. When I had heard Julie Plec from Vampire Diaries was going to be there, I knew I had to get into that session and hear what she had to say. Unfortunately, the passes we had did not let us into the sessions, and the security people at the front doors weren’t nice enough to let two students in- so sucks for me!

The ZACUTO Lounge definitely won best booth- they had a VIP Lounge..with a full bar…seriously what else could you ask for? Only in Vegas would they have an open bar at one of the booths.

I didn’t get to see a whole lot of Vegas, but I definitely did learn a lot- things about the camera world I never thought I’d learn. It was definitely one of the best experiences, I’m so lucky to have been given this chance to go- and although my legs are still killing me from all the walking-I would do it all over again.

Check out some of these pics I took while I was there.

Vampire Diaries: Klaus Is Baaaack!

Just when you thought Klaus was gone for good he returns to Mystic Falls to break the link spell, and apparently use his phone for live video streaming and sending messages in what looked like the Draw Something app.

So he’s back to find Bonnie and hold her hostage (like he usually does) until she agrees to unlink the originals. While that’s happening…Stefan and the gang use the old bridge’s sign to carve out the white oak stakes that can kill Klaus and his siblings. Their plan is to isolate Rebecca, since she’s the easiest target…and kill her…which would inevitably kill Klaus and the rest.

Rebecca, who is heartbroken at the fact that Damon used her in his master plan, kidnaps him and puts him in these spike bear trap things. While he’s held captive, Elena begs Stefan to postpone ‘the plan’ until they rescue Damon. Stefan doesn’t agree, he refuses to put ‘the plan’ on hold…so Damon will just have to wait.

Insert dream sequence here…while Damon’s held up in the bloody chains, he has this weird dream about Elena coming and rescuing him…then giving her blood to him to make him stronger. It’s clear it’s just a dream sequence…Damon returns to reality, and Rebecca is standing behind him. She’s somehow used Sage’s mind reading powers to read Damon’s dreams/thoughts. It’s hard to tell whether Rebecca has real feelings for Damon, in the end it’s more obvious that she actually might be in love with Damon- if so, that would be an amazing story line.

Anyways, Klaus forces his brother Finn to return to Mystic Falls, Finn is the one sibling who wants them all dead, he’s sided with their mother and doesn’t see a reason for their existence. Once Finn’s back in Mystic Falls, because really who can withstand Klaus’ demanding tone, Finn reunites with his old time lover- Sage. While they’re enjoying tequila shots at the Mystic Falls Pub…Stefan decides to implement ‘the plan’ and kill Finn instead.

They basically end up killing Finn, he burns to ashes, Sage lies over his body weeping. During that time, Klaus forces Bonnie to resume the magical link spell, unfortunately it’s right before they kill Finn, which basically means Klaus is still alive. Stefan and Elena not knowing where Bonnie is, think Klaus is dead. Bonnie calls Elena afterwards telling her Damon is in trouble, Elena thinks she’s crazy because they just killed Klaus, and then Bonnie tells her the link spell has been broken, and Stefan is royally pissed off.

It’s getting good right? This episode was awesome. Long story short, Sage returns to Stefan while he’s about to go off and ‘kill’ Klaus. She’s obviously angry that he killed her lover Finn. Once she enters the living room, she becomes weak and literally topples over and dies. Her accomplice, tries to help her but then he falls over and dies to.

**Side Note: I totally thought it was the fumes of the white oak dagger Damon had hidden in the fireplace that killed Sage and her boy toy. Unless he didn’t hide it in the fireplace and I was just seeing things**

What they realize is, if one of the originals die, or all of them, it basically kills every vampire they have created. Since they’re the originals, that would basically mean all vampires, which would mean Stefan and Damon as well. Basically, they’re screwed.

So, Stefan gives up some of the white oak daggers in exchange for his brother Damon. Only problem is Klaus doesn’t believe those are the only daggers left. Stefan’s lying, everyone knows, and Klaus forces him to bring the other 2 back to him, or everyone dies. Damon is free, Rebecca decides to let him go (she’s getting soft)…and in the end, she tells Klaus she might stay in Mystic Falls.

Elena and Stefan have another moment, he asks her to tell him if she’s in love with Damon, she can’t not admit that, so Stefan is left heartbroken, but then again this is all his fault anyways.

Finally, Damon pays a visit to Alaric’s where the last white oak dagger was hidden. When Alaric goes to grab it from behind the bookshelf it’s not there- obviously his murderous alter ego took it and who knows what’s going to happen.

New episodes returns April 19th.

Vampire Diaries: Bros Before Hos

Last night’s episode of Vampire Diaries wasn’t crazy like usual, however we did uncover some important information about the person that’s been killing the council members of Mystic Falls. Alaric is put in jail since he’s really the only suspect in the case, obviously he pleads innocent, he was the one stabbed a few weeks ago, why would he stab himself?

His new girlfriend, which is now probably his ex, looks to be the guilty one, after all we knew how shady she’s been since the beginning, and last episode does end with her pointing a gun at Alaric. Anyways, Damon and Stefan try to figure out the serial killer mystery as well, however they play Sherlock Holmes by delving into their deep past…which includes terrible hairstyles (circa 1912), an Elena Gilbert ancestor, and a female boxer.

They decide to put their heads together over a few drinks, and Damon’s one night fling Rebecca (also an original vampire- sister to Klaus)…hears that the Salvatore family had owned the land that the White Oak tree lived on. If you don’t know, the White Oak tree is really the only thing that can kill an original vampire. Although, they keep bringing in new objects and deeming them as ‘the only thing that can kill an original’ so I’m beginning to think there’s more than one way of killing that damn family. Anyways, Rebecca buds into their conversation because she wants to know more about their ancestors and the land that they owned back when in Mystic Falls. Except she doesn’t tell them the real reason as to why she’s hanging out with them. She just keep asking them random questions about their past.

While that’s happening Elena and her new boy toy Matt break into Alaric’s ex-girlfriends apartment, looking for some incriminating evidence. They obviously find a box hidden in some secret compartment in her closet. Long story short, she returns home and finds the two hiding. They get sent to Mystic Falls prison, which basically means Caroline’s mother the chief of police just gives them a slap on the wrist and they’re free to go. We also learn that crazy ex-girlfriend actually changes the time of medical examiner’s death to basically clear Alaric and let him free. So, she’s not as evil as we thought she was.

The episode gets a little confusing near the end, or maybe that was just me. Basically, the Gilbert family has 2 rings that make them immune from supernatural deaths. The one ring Jeremy has…and he’s god knows where. The other one belongs to Alaric, well it doesn’t really belong to him, he just wears it all the time because it was given to him by Elena’s real mother…that’s a whole other story.

So what the Salvatore brothers figured out, the ring that Alaric is wearing is basically forcing him to kill all these people. Trust me, it’s better if you watch the episode. He has no recollection of killing anyone, or even stabbing himself. But somehow the spirit of the original ring wearer (Elena’s ancestor) is making him do all these things. Hopefully, they’ll explain more next week.

Stay tuned to see more from our favourite original Klaus, because Ian Somerhalder was tweeting this week about working with the badass original on set.

Yay!

The Vampire Diaries: Naked Pics!!!

O-M-G. If you haven’t seem the yet, here are the new cover pics from this week’s cover of Entertainment Weekly.

Who looks hotter Stefan and Elena or Damon and Elena??? (Tough Call)

Vampire Diaries: One Big Happy Family

Last night’s episode of Vampire Diaries was ah-mazing and definitely worth the wait! Elijah is back (Damon pulled out his dagger)…Stefan is suspicious of Elijah and if they can trust him. Someone or something is killing people in the Mystic Falls Founder’s Group (the medical examiner and now Alaric). We don’t know who it is at the end of the episode, don’t worry Alaric comes back to life once Elena kills him (since he was wearing his ring and can only return to life if he’s killed by supernatural circumstances- aka Elena).

Klaus, Elijah,Damon and Stefan have a nice dinner at Klaus’ mansion. They discuss the terms of their new agreement, whatever it’s going to be. Klaus will leave Mystic Falls along with his family of hybrids if they give him Elena to protect forever. Klaus needs Elena’s blood to create more hybrids so he basically wants the best for her, and he doesn’t want her near Stefan or Damon. Which sucks for us since we’re on the verge of a Damon and Elena romance.

Caroline’s dad is given the vampire blood…but then Caroline finds him dead in a hospital supply room. When he comes back to life he’s in the vampire transformation period…he needs to drink blood…if he doesn’t he’s dead. His decision, since he hates vampires…is to basically let himself die. So he dies.

Bonnie and her mom (Denise from Breaker High) attempt to open the magically sealed coffin several times. Finally, they open it but not all the way (or so they think), Bonnie decides she needs to leave the cave and text Damon letting him know they’re almost there…right when she leaves, Bonnie’s mom turns around and the coffin opens!!

Cut to: The 4 men continue discussing a fair deal, Klaus threatens to kill Stefan if Damon doesn’t bring back the missing coffin. Damon agrees, and Elijah walks out with Damon. You totally think Elijah is back on Klaus’ side. Just then, Elijah and Damon return….along with the entire family!!!!!! Rebecca…Cole…and some weird guy with long hair. They beat up Klaus for a little bit, they all hate him because he’s left them in their coffins for centuries. Klaus confessed to Rebecca that he killed their mother, right before daggering her and basically turning her into a rock.

When Damon and Stefan are free to go, they return to the cave where Bonnie is. They find the two witches lying on the ground, not dead but definitely passed out, the magic coffin is empty…whatever was inside is free now. Damon and Stefan have a moment together in the woods, Stefan tells Damon that he loves Elena…obviously hinting to Damon that he should back off. Damon replies with ‘I love her too!!’!! crazy!! And then Damon just walks away.

Cut back to Klaus’ house…the door opens…and the epic music fades in…Klaus’ mother appears!! I knew it!!! She’s like some godly figure, moving effortlessly through the house, her entire family starring at her in shock. She reaches Klaus, and he can barely look at her. He tells her that she’s here to kill him, and he seems to be okay with it. She tells him he’s her son and she’s only here to forgive him for what he did. Then she turns around to the rest of the family…and tells them she wants them all to be a ‘happy family’ whatever that means!

Until next week.Ugh.

Return Of Vampire Diaries!
